Sounds Like
Your favorite band. I've also been told that we sound like The Lovely Lads.
Emanating from the desolate plains and poverty-ridden streets of San Angelo, Texas, Vex is a dynamic extreme metal band that acts as an instrument of catharsis. With influences ranging from Krisiun to Katatonia to King Crimson, Vex utilizes a wide sonic range to convey the entirety of the existential crisis. Avoiding the celestial leanings of most extreme metal bands, Vex conveys a very human level of expression that is far more personal than escapist. The band's 2002 "Sphereith" demo earned much critical praise from publications such as Terrorizer, Wormgear, Metallion and Metalside, among others, and helped the band earn gigs all over Texas, including shows with national touring acts such as Moonspell, Katatonia, Daylight Dies, Origin, Deicide, Immolation, Hate Eternal, Krisiun, Goatwhore, Misery Index, Abysmal Dawn, Vehemence, Exhumed, Cattle Decapitation, Morgion, Grave, Mourning Beloveth, and The Prophecy (UK). In early 2003 Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand personally selected the track "Eyes of Wrath" to appear on the annual compilation released by his label Lifeless Records. Afer a few more years of steadily gigging, including an appearance at the 2004 Milwaukee Metalfest featuring The Misfits, Cephalic Carnage, and Origin, Vex ventured out to Noise Farm Studios to record a 3 song promo. This recording showcased a much more aggressive and organically atmospheric approach than on "Sphereith". To promote this release, Vex played a steady stream of local shows and embarked on a succesful West Coast Tour with Godless Rising (Moribund Records) and Avenger of Blood (JCM Records) in August 2006.
Meticulously crafted and uttely expansive, "A New Constellation" combines the best cross sections of Prog-Rock and Jazz infused Art-Metal with a healthy dose of Doom oriented melancholy.
