We recorded some new songs at Ghost Town studios in Leeds, we're hoping to get it on some vinyl, just need to find the right people to help us...
The winter trees, the landscape, falling snow and dark horizon - this is vile vile creature territory...
dance - noise - resistance
Vile Vile Creatures usually roam around the North of the country, playing various gigs and have even been known to venture to Dublin, where they have played aLAF and Le Moustache....they wore moustaches... They also played Berlin Ladyfest in the hottest of venues and two Peppermint Patti gigs in Cardiff...They have spread dance-noise-resistance to the south where they played Artrocker and a very select gig in Camden...They have also played a session for Marc Riley's Brain Surgery and have been Steve Lamacq's demo of the week on his 'In New Music We Trust' on Radio 1 and Huw Stevens has played them on his unsigned podcast. They supported The Raincoats at Ladyfest Leeds and The Slits at Ladyfest Manchester 2008...
artrocker ep of the year!!!
VILE VILE CREATURES Artrocker review...
"And so it came to pass that the DIY scene brought forth yet another gem of a pop record, which is not to say it isn¹t punk as f**k too...with brittle strings, electric fingers and angry voices. All four tracks on their debut 7" vinyl release 'Wilderness' ('Lets just pretend its Kate' Records) are utterly beguiling and, to steal from their anti-press release, you can dance to them (albeit that herky-jerky way), sing along with them (albeit a bit shouty), and think and talk about what they have to say (which is quite a lot). It is from the pantheon of Olympia riot grrrl of Bikini Kill but is also an essential reminder of what inspirational post punk from Slits to Erase Errata can deliver. My EP of the year without doubt - an un-missable Artrocker debut." - Tom Artrocker
"Dolls house falling down stairs." - Plan B magazine
"Steve Lamacq and Marc Riley favourites, Manchester’s Vile Vile Creatures, follow in the Beth Ditto path of incrediblly talented and fantastic lesbian performers ..." from www.rainbownetwork.com
Artrocker gig review from Peppermintpatti 15 September 2007
EMILY BREEZE, VILE VILE CREATURES, FAKE TAN, PENCIL TOES @ Peppermintpatti, Chapter, Cardiff
"A night of drums, bass guitars, sweat and perfect rock triumvirate." [full review on our blog and in Artrocker]
"...Vile Vile Creatures love Erase Errata and Gossip, soon Erase Errata and Gossip will love them. Already single of the week on Steve Lamacq's show and Tom Artrocker's EP of the year this band is good. They blast through their set, all riot grrl energy and shouty lyrics. They end with the authentic, colossal rallying cry of "Faux Feminism", impassionedly voiced through a megaphone, Jenny finally jumping into the crowd, leaving the joyous, syncopated rhythm to carry the vigour of a perfect pop song."
..."There was more sweat and energy in this rock 'n' roll show than in those 100's of simpering indie boy bands I'm so sick of hearing about. Thank God there are bands as good as this out there." - Pearl Smith
BUZZ Magazine review of Wilderness
"This is seven inches of consumnate blast from a Manchester-based band who veer between curdled-romantic garage ramalama and percussive blowouts that sound like ESG played at twice the speed. Recommended to anyone looking for the spirit of riot grrrl circa 2007, although the limited nature of this [200] might see demand outstripping supply."- Noel Gardner
ORGAN SINGLE OF THE WEEK
VILE VILE CREATURES – Wilderness (Anchor Age) - "Just what are Vile Vile Creatures made of? Sugar and spice and all things nice? Slits and Gossip and agit pop and nerve jangling Erase Errata and racing through the city lights and I can change, I can change, I can change and you can change and Bikini Kill and Birthday Party and The Fall and noise and dancing and riot grrrl riot riot riot. Vile Vile Creatures are from Manchester and this is a brilliant self-released seven inch (200 of them so move fast now), four urgent energetic tracks (dare we say Wrong Pop again, is something happening here?). Nerve jangling and biting hard and I can see, you can see - they won’t judge but they might bite – four tracks, four wired up new wave punk rock pointy spiky staccato bites, let’s go! Every evolving, racing, wrong pop energy, biting pretty hearts in two." - Sean Organ
