   About Voluntary Mother Earth
Bio

2004
Voluntary Mother Earth evolved from the debris of Denton, Texas, U.S.A. around Akihiko Hayakawa in the fall of 2004, in a local smoke-filled coffee shop named Kharma.

2005
"Voluntary Invasion", our first EP was recorded and self released.

2006
Relocated to Tokyo, Japan. Aki's student visa in America expired. Fortunately, the band was yet to expire.

2007
-First 14-city U.S. Tour executed.
-"Unacceptable Vegetable", our first full-length album, was created right after the tour, and again self released.

2008
In June, Fujita Fajita, a chiropractitioner, was welcomed into the band as new drummer.

2009
In March Second 11-city U.S. tour executed, causing Aki to have another batch of debts.
In August, a new bass player Sakura Cherry-O was welcomed into the band.
In October, third 11-city U.S. tourexecuted. More on the way. Stay tuned.

What We're About

Absurdist Rock Combo from Tokyo Japan?

Weird is good.
For those of you who need classification to understand what the fuck we're trying to do, Experimental Progressive Psychedelic Punk Noise, is what we do, well kind of.

Voluntary Mother Earth is an eccentric rock band from Tokyo whose non-mainstream, non-safe, sometimes extreme, sometimes hilarious, yet seriously composed rock music has been compared to such bands as Mr. Bungle, The Mars Volta, System of a Down, Primus, Boredoms, John Zorn, and Frank Zappa.

Press Reviews of "Unacceptable Vegetable"

"This band is never predictable. You never know what is going to happen next. This makes the music exciting and strange as well. Excellent band."

-Scott Heller May/08
Aural Innovations (USA)
Also on Low Cut (Denmark)

"I just don't get this album. Maybe my lack of appreciation stems from my lack of a penis."

-Sebastianna March/08
Delusions of Adequacy (USA)
