VORTEX TRIBE is a dazzling array of intricate melodies interspersed with harmony and rhythm. Vortex Tribe is a world-beat/jazz fusion project, with keyboards, percussion, bass and horns. Each piece is composed of grooving genres which change to provide an eclectic and sophisticated aura to the sounds. Vortex Tribe is a new, original and exciting sound of instrumental acid fusion jazz.
DEBORAH Yates was accepted into her first symphony orchestra at the age of 13. From the age of 16,
she was touring Europe with symphonic orchestras as the piccoloist. She was a featured performer at
the Brandenburgh Hall in Vienna, Austria, for the President of Austria, and had the honor of a
performing as a soloist in Carnegie Hall. Deborah branched out into jazz and latin playing throughout
Britain and the Bay Area. She performed weekly at Jagz at the Station in Ascot, England as well as the
Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
JON Mulvey, born in Los Angeles, Cal. started playing guitar at 7 years old, began formal classical and Jazz guitar training at 11, and started touring internationally at 15. After coming to the bay area to finish a degree in music composition, Jon was accepted as a student by Joe Satriani and studied with Joe for over 3 years. Jon has extensive session experience with over 1500 recordings since the age of 16, on which he has either played guitar, bass, and keys, engineered, produced, or mastered. After almost 10 years as a member of Mingus, With Dorian Mingus, son of the great Jazz Bassist/Composer Charles Mingus. Jon started the Catapult/Catastrophe Music Label with business partner, and band mate Cat Mclean selling over 100.000 units world wide. Jon is a a sponsored clinician for Peavey amps, and Ibanez Guitars.

ISAAC Ho began playing piano at the ripe age of 5. Raised in Houston,TX, he won several city-wide classical piano contests as a teenager, and continued studying chamber music while pursing a computer science degree at Princeton University. It was not until moving out to the Bay Area that he discovered a love for groove and improvisation. Since 2006, Isaac has played in some of the Bay Area's most established venues, including Slim's, Ashkenaz, and 330 Ritch. His experience spans a range of genres, from Afro-Cuban to straight-ahead jazz, Afro-Haitian to Middle-Eastern pop. Today, he continues his musical studies at the Jazzschool in Berkeley, where he serves as the house pianist for the Latin Vocal Ensemble led by Maria Marquez.
AMIR Zitro is the son of jazz drummer James Zitro, and part of a four generation family of musicians. Although he has the utmost respect for, and fondness of jazz, his passion for “the hook” has always drawn him towards pop music. Amir finds himself comfortably nestled between the musical stylings of Prince, Pastorius, and Pantera and is always trying to find ways to collide these worlds in a cohesive manner.
A SF Bay Area native, Amir has studied with Joe Satriani, Marc van Wageningen, and Andy West. In his 28+ years of bass playing he has had the opportunity to play and record with a wide variety of great players from “rockers” such as Alex Skolnick, Danny Gill, and Doug Doppler, to “fusion cats” like Bob Coons, “polkametaltwang” master Bryan Kehoe and even “americana/bluegrass” beauty Corinne West, “rocker” Cat McLean, and “urban popsters” Papamalo
SERPENTINE is a professional Belly Dancer whose soulful and authentic style has enchanted audiences in San Francisco and around the world. Since relocating from New York City in 06, Serpentine has already performed at venues such the Shoreline Ampitheater, the Regency Ballroom, DNA Lounge and 1015 Folsom, as well as at events such as the Sea of Dreams, the Health & Harmony Festival and the Love Parade. She authentically performs traditional Egyptian cabaret, American Tribal and has created her own unique style described as theatrical and mesmerizing with a circus flair. Having studied with such worldwide recognized teachers as Serena and Yosuri Sharif, Serpentine’s shows always capture the true essence of this feminine art.
