I also like SOME reality shows like: "Dog The Bounty Hunter" and "Airline", but none of this Big Brother or Amazing Race type bullshit!
My biggest TV vice is GAME SHOWS.. especially Beat The Clock with Bud Collier (B&W Version), Ive Got A Secret with Gary Moore (B&W Version), The Price Is Right (Syndicated with Doug Davidson and CBS with Bob Barker)
Heroes
I'm going to renaame this section "MENTORS AND INSPIRATIONS" and use it to say thanks or pay tribute to a few people.......
First of all, Ira Littman. Where would I be without this man's help? I honestly don't think I'd be doing nearly as well or know as much as I do know. I owe this man alot and consider him my second father. I owe this man so much and I'll never be able to repay him for all he's done.
The Late Steven Delay was the world's best engineer and a great guy. He knew we all made mistakes... when I worked at WTIR, we just admitted our mistakes, cleaned up and moved on. He was really easy going, great to get along with and someone I was glad to call my friend.Hhe was also a wonderful teacher and loved to share his knowledge about RF/Radio Engineering if I had a question.
This March 11th, 2008 will be the 3rd anniversary of Mr. Delay's passing. Not an anniversary that I want to remember, but I do nonetheless.
The Late Ed Beck... what a guy! He had killer pipes and was great to chitchat with radio about! He always answered my calls and helped me out with something if I needed it. He left us at too young an age and he's still very soorley missed.
Doug Fleming of Radio Info.. he too left us at an early age, too early! This man was a very busy & important person but no matter what, he always had 5 minutes to talk to me. Hell, he even talked to me while at the airport one day waiting for his plane. I still play a Classic Country 1090 jingle in his honor every now and then, as that was his favorite!!
Last but not least, all my friends from COlchester and everyone at Bacon Academy. Do I count as an Alumnus even though I didn't graduate?
Thanks for stopping by my little home on myspace here! Basically, I'm what my British radio friends(presenters) call a "radio anorak".
I've "jocked" a few different formats and helped run day to day operations, doing a little bit of everything at a few stations as well.
Are you the Owner, General Manager or PD of a statio Do you need someone to host an on air shift but can't find anyone locally to do it or can't afford fulltime talent?
I'm available to voicetrack a daily or weekly shift. I can also do station promos, liners or id's!?(It doesn't matter what kind of station... AM, FM, LPFM, LPTV, College, Commercial or Non Commercial.. all inquiries or quesitons are welcome!!)
I'm flexible, understanding and very easy to work with!
If you're interested in my airchecks or production demos drop me an email to the email address above.
Who I'd like to meet:
Basically, I'm willing to talk/chat with anyone.... especially if you work in radio! I'm ESPECIALLY looking for radio people my age who work in other countries.. if that's you, feel free to add me and say Hi!!
If you have an interest in music, jingles, DX'ing... anything like that, add me/send me a message.
If you add me, it would be entirely cool if you send me a message as well, and tell me where you found me and stuff like that.
Thanks for add Paul... Just got back from Dallas Texas on a mini vacation but still was on the radio while I was down there. I have a few friends that host radio shows in Dallas so I was a guest down there.
Be sure to check out my podcast section of my website. www. ryanbakershow. com... I add new written content on the home page page everyday so be sure to check that out aswell.
I've been working my rear off. It's been more busy around here than at Christmas time. We're in the process of changing the format (to what, the owners can't decide)...the building we're renting...is being sold and we have less than 3 months to find a new locations (we've been here for about 30 years)...my kids are getting ready to participate in the upward bound program at missouri southern state univeristy (it's a program that gives kids in high school a jump start into their secondary education---and alot more)... i had 2 cows die (not kidding)...car broke twice (is in the shop again today, need to walk there soon to get it AGAIN)...youngest daughter had foot surgery (going to take months to heal)...remodeled my kitchen (until i ran out of funds :(, just before i could get new windows, the ones i have are terrible and drafty)...helping my mom buy a house in town (and adding a bathroom onto it - been there after work every day and all day/night on the weekends) i am sorry that i haven't called, commented, or even taken the time to email you. i'm bad. i'm also very sorry. forgive me? how's george? how's the station running?
