   About WASTED TAPE
Santa Barbara, Ca. Wasted Tape began as a recording project in 1992 with long time comrades and band partners Bruce Winter and John Askew (The Lance Vegas Show). With the growing need to work with a drummer and further the possibility of playing live, drummer Erik Herzog (Old Man) joined the fold. After only a few months of experimenting and playing, the trio recorded The Millennium Falcon and released it on their own Degobah Records (1993). Very soon after, came the 16 song release Lando Calrissian again released on Degobah Records in 1994. Wasted Tape began to play live regularly up and down the West Coast, and did 2 U.S. tours (supporting the likes of Toad The Wet Sprocket, Lemon Heads, The Grays etc.) Tracking for the 3rd album persisted over the next few months and writing continued. However after starts and stops along the way, in 1995 Wasted Tape stopped playing live and soon things came to a slow, once again, recording-project, pace. Over the next few years as other projects unfolded (aside from engineering and playing on tons of recordings, Bruce had FLAPPING, Flapping, flapping, John and Erik formed Cooler and The National Set and then joined the already in motion Model Engine) the 3rd Wasted Tape album was indefinitely postponed. In 1996, Wasted Tape was asked to write and record music for a cartoon that was in the works. The recordings took place March 14 and March 20 1996 over the warehouse at Herzog's work. The live sessions were all instrumental with only a few overdubs to complete. Sadly, the creators of the cartoon shelved the project and the music was shelved (this album, called LUNCH: Music For the Cartoon was later released on Askew's FILMguerrero label as a limited release.) In 1997 Askew moved to Portland, Oregon to help long time friend Adam Selzer start up Type Foundry Recording. Always the three kept in touch talking of finishing the 3rd album. Finally, in 1998 Winter and Herzog made the trek North to Portland for a week and came to record (with no declared purpose). The result was a 17 minute, 4 part rock epic "In the Nottingham" that ended up inspiring and completing the album goSOLAR: a collection of recordings from 1995-2000 (FILMguerrero 2000). Most recently Wasted Tape recorded for a week in May of 2002 and again in the Fall of 2005 what are now the makings (and digital sessions) of the next release (completion date TBA). Currently: Winter records and scores music for film and TV, Herzog records and performs in Buellton and Mudlord, and Askew is an engineer at Type Foundry Recording, operates the recording label FILMguerrero and records and perfoms in Tracker and Faux-Haux. Postal Workers of the World Unite- Wasted Tape sessions are now being shipped up and down the West Coast in hopes of someday finishing yet another album. Personnel: Bruce Winter: bass, vocals, and all recording, Erik Herzog drums, and John Askew guitar and vocals. BUY!! WASTED TAPE

Hey! We are playing a really cool show over at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach, on Thursday, June 14th. It is in the area of Broadway and Pine where all the action is. This is a really cool place famous for their great music. We are playing upstairs at 8pm. We're playing our full set. It will be a great time of music, food and drinks. Be prepared to clap your hands and stomp your feet and have a good time. See you there!

We agree with Chris below. Add "Salt" - either as a song or a video. Seeing Askew in his 90's garb is a daily show.
