Books books and more books! I used to review books but I am now concentrating on Publishing. I also am interested in my native heritage and helping others to better understand native culture. I am also interested in teaching others to look beyond stereotypes and misconceptions. I also love to do beadwork but right now my hands aren't cooperating lol.
Music
I have pretty eclectic taste in music. Everything from traditional native drum to country to classic rock. Among my favorites are: Robbie Robertson, Ulali, Walela, Black Lodge Singers, Southern Cree, Brule, Jason Michael Carroll, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Los Lonely Boys, Trent Tomlinson, Kenny Chesney, Lynyrd Skynyrd, KISS, AC/DC, Bad Company, CCR, The Eagles, and I'm sure I forgot a ton of others. lol
Movies
Smoke Signals, Powwow Highway, Naturally Native, Skins, Accepted, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Dogma, Evolution, Men In Black (1 and 2), Independence Day, Two Moon Junction, Return to Two Moon Junction, Brokeback Mountain, Red Shoe Diaries, and lots of others I can't think of at the moment.
Television
I'm not much into television but it's usually on in the background because Brian watches. I like American Idol, American Choppers, all of the CSI's and a few other shows though.
Books
Ohhhh booooooks. I could take up forty pages with this section lol! My reading taste is pretty errr exotic to say the least. Among my favorites are Victorious Star and Fallen Star by Morgan Hawke, Jane's Warlord by Angela Knight, the Leashed series by Jet Mykles, Skye's Trail and Syndelle's Possession by Jory Strong, the Shifter's Station series by Silvia Violet, the Jarheads series by Sean Michael, Dangerous Games by Lora Leigh (also her entire Breeds series), Mona Lisa Awakening by Sunny (she put me in the dedication of her story Mona Lisa Three which was in the Over the Moon anthology!) and the darkhunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I would pretty much read anything by any of the authors I previously listed. Some of my other favorite authors are: Lorie O'Clare, Tawny Taylor, Jodi Lynn Copeland, Shiloh Walker, Claire Thompson, Sierra Dafoe, Sedonia Guillone, NJ Walters, Nicole Austin, Willa Okati, Mike Shade, Laura Baumbach, Jude Mason, Lena Austin, Jaid Black, Michael Barnette, Jenna Leigh, Mila Ramos, and I'm sure I've forgotten several others.
The following video is my first trailer for an individual author. I hope you like it. Feedback is welcome. Anyone wanting to inquire about a book trailer can shoot me an email here on Myspace. Water Love Productions will have a Myspace page soon and the link will be posted here when it is ready. (PS I've read the book depicted in this video and it really rocks. Check it out at www.lyricalpress.com)
I have a few close friends who are heroes of mine for reasons that I choose not to disclose to protect their privacy. But, anyone who helps those who cannot help themselves is definitely a hero as well. I also have the utmost respect for any author who has the guts to put their innermost thoughts and dreams out there on paper for all the world to see.
This is the cover of the book that contains my very first published story!
I live in Michigan with my husband of 23 years and our two sons who are 17 and 22. I'm Eastern Cherokee and Choctaw and my husband Brian (aka walknbird in my friends list) is Ojibwe. Our heritage is important to us and we are trying to pass on as much tradition and culture as we can to our children.
I would also like to note that the daosobudasa profile in my friends is a memorial to my younger brother David, who took his own life in September of 2006. Dave would have been 37 this past March 2, two days before my own 42nd birthday. He is sorely missed by many. I mention this here because I am concerned about those who seriously consider taking their own lives. If you need help. Please reach out for it. There ARE people who care out there. I am one of them. In my blog posts you will find a memorial to my brother. There are links to places that help people in that post, but also if you Google suicide prevention you will find tons of help. Those who are left behind after a suicide are the ones who suffer the most. I firmly believe in hug therapy so here is a big big hug for anyone who needs one. *HUGS*
If you are an author, or in the publishing industry somehow, please feel free to send me a message or IM me on yahoo at waterfall_woman. I love books and as a former Co-owner of Dark Eden Press, a book reviewer, and a promotions specialist, I have many skills and resources that could be of use. Writing and beadwork are two other things that I also am currently still pursuing. Additionally, I am going to create book trailers for a very nominal fee and do other odds and ends to keep myself busy. One day I will get to go to RT and/or Book Expo America too!
This world seems real 2 u, b-cuz GOD dreamed u in2 existence along with His cosmic dream. U are a part of His dream.
If, at nite, u dream that you bump ur head against a wall, u may get an imaginary pain in ur head. The moment u awake, however, u realize that there was no wall there to hurt u. The pain u experienced was in ur mind, but not in ur head!
The same is true of this dream u are dreaming now. Wake up to the one Real-ity, GOD, & u will see that this Earth-Life is just a show. It is nothing, but shadows & light! ____________________
