WAX formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, California. The original, and reunited line-up consists of Joe Sib (vocals), Dave Georgeff (bass), Tom "Soda" Gardocki (guitar), and Loomis Fall (drums).
WAX is well-known for the MTV "buzz clip" song and video "California," directed by Spike Jonze. The video depicted a man on fire calmly running in slow motion, and was quickly banned from daytime airplay on MTV.
WAX released their first album, What Else Can We Do? on Caroline Records in 1992. WAX's surf-inflected punk rock was compared to the Ramones and Pixies.
In 1995, WAX issued its major-label debut, 13 Unlucky Numbers on Interscope Records. WAX toured extensively in support of the record, and appeared on numerous TV programs including The Jon Stewart Show and MTV's 120 Minutes.WAX also licensed the song "Who Is Next" to Nike for a commercial which featured Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.
Later, Joe Sib went on to join the band 22 Jacks; Dave Georgeff has played with the Los Angeles indie rock combo, Sign Of The Fox; Soda once fronted Soda & His Million Piece Band, and later, Rose's Pawn Shop; Loomis has released two records with his band, Loomis, and he's a recurring cast member in the Jackass and Wildboyz TV shows and movies.
WAX is amped to be playing together again - still keeping the punk spirit moving in the right direction.
