we found this song's lyric and melody written in the back of a beautiful book by richard grossman called "embryos, galaxies, and sentient beings: how the universe makes life".
it became part of our daily morning ritual and was an invitation to many of the experiences we enjoyed during the recording of the record 'amennamo'. it is the one piece of music we'd be comfortable with singing for an eternity, however the phrase "amennamo" at the end is evidence there is something more in store for allLoveus, and all good things must conclude with silence. there is very little silence on the record "amennamo", but we hope you enjoy it nevertheless!
praise god for the light within you!
"A Ton"
this song was written during the recent "the secret" craze, and is about the absolute providence that is within every living breathing creature. contentment and fulfillment come when you are ready to experience them, and this song came when we were ready to sing it!
"Here Goes Nothing"
this song is a bipartisan take on duality... an arrival/departure into/out of the fear/love of death/life...prolly shouldn't say too much about it...video here
"All the Way"
there's an old vedic myth about the afterlife that features the mollossus, an ancient descendant of the rottweiler that was supposedly six feet tall at the shoulders. so the story goes, after death, your bodily form as ego escorts your spirit and essential self to the gates of 'heaven' so to speak. the gates are flanked by two hungry mollossus, waiting to devour your bodily form as ego. if your spirit's addictions to form and ego are overpowering, the dogs will devour your body along with your spirit, and your spirit will again be recycled into the mill of reincarnation. if your spirit is no longer tethered to form and ego, it will have a chance to step aside and let the dogs have a nice little snack as your spirit proceeds through the open gates.
this chapter in the story is the fourth of nine, one through three being the journey from pre-conception, birth and life, and death, and this song corresponds with it's respective chapter of the 'story' in the album 'amennamo'
"Heart Breath Magik"
the title of this song is not the oblique metaphor it sounds like. heart breath magick is a real thing that anyone can do.
our emotions are inextricably tied to a number of processes in our physical body, and they influence, or are influenced by, the well-being, or not-so-well-being, in our lives. heart breath magick is a breathing practice that helps to regulate and equalize any imbalances in the dynamics between our emotions and our physical body's processes, and the effect is truly magickal. breathing cycles of inhalation/retention/exhalation/retention are timed in concert with your heart-rate on specific intervals (12in/6hold/12out/6hold for instance), and almost immediately the benefits are felt.
this song came about through the profound experiences associated with practicing this breathing technique, and singing it helps motivate us to listen louder!
"I M U is WE R 1"
bang onna drumm all dayy !!!
In Joy We Are Won !!!
We Are Each Other !!!
We Are One !!!
all LOVE us !!!
"1 Love"
this song is about something pretty basic and simple.
LOVE.
not the kind of love that hurts or is extraordinary and complex, or even the kind that is syrupy-sweet and smells like roses, but rather the kind that does what it does, is what it is, and wants nothing but to BE. it's right in your empty pockets and it'll get you anything you've ever wanted as soon as you find the places to spend it.
btw, you just won the lottery and you're filthy rich so don't spare another drop of joy doing this "Won Love" dance!
"the Rakes Progress in Lost and Jealous"
this song was written during the recording of the record 'amennamo', and is the rawest performance on the album 'amennamo'. chapter ate of benign.

Then make that imp-wards peripatetic journey to Pasadena this Saturday and watch us confuse a bunch of drunkards with strange sounds and words.
That's right! This Saturday Antique Imp we'll be playing at the Old Town Pub in Pasadena. We go on at 11:30 and will be playing deep into the darkest nether regions of the night, aka for as long as we feel like.
This show marks our 1-year anniversary as a band (20 shows in one year--weee!), so it's sure to be a special night for us. Come on by and take part in the love.
Tix are $8 at the door, though if you plan on attending, send us a message and we'll do our damndest to get you on the guest list. Empty slots are running thin quickly though, so best to RSVP as soon as possible.
The Old Town Pub is located at 66 N. Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena CA 91103, blocks away from where the 710 and the 134 meet.
Unfortunately we don't have a flier to give you at this time, so here's a picture of Dick Cheney as a baby. As you can tell, he was a huge fan of Antique Imp from even a young age.
