Nakatomi Towers are an electro pop duo from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Active since June 2009, Julianne & Dave bonded over a shared love of glitchy house and electroclash. Coming musically from a mainly indie / rock background, the band have evolved into something very danceable and very pop. Shimmering guitars, laid back boy / girl harmonies and bouncing chugging synths coalesce into the musical equivalent of a hug on the dancefloor.
Nakatomi Towers have been enjoying playing a wide range of gigs including supporting touring acts such as Jack Penate, Michachu and the Shapes and Little Boots at both her upcoming Irish shows.
With a shared passion for DJ-ing, Nakatomi Towers have been playing a wide range of commercial electro and fresh remixes at exclusive parties and local Club Nights throughout N. Ireland.
They are currently distributing and promoting their Promo CD and booking gigs and DJ sets for the coming months.
First impressions count and this Belfast boy/girl duo’s electro/indie tune ‘Cut Me Out’ makes a lasting one. Ones to watch.
Smashing electropop in a Juan Maclean/Presets vein from Belfast
'bags and bags of potential in their searing buzz ' - Jim Carroll, On The Record
This is the first real tune from Belfast-based boy/girl duo Nakatomi Towers and what a cool beast of electro-pop it turns out to be. From the "duh-duh-duh" nonsensical yet catchy chorus to the insistent disco bassline, this is promising stuff for all 2 minutes 47 seconds of its duration. - http://www.nialler9.com/
"I love that track, it's called magentic, keep an eye out for Nakatomi Towers on your travels" - After Midnight with Stephen McCauley - BBC Radio Ulster
"I reckon Belfast really needed a band like this.
We've so much going on - dubstep (Boxcutter), instrumental giants (And So I Watch You From Afar), retro rock (The Answer), scuzzy indie (Panama Kings)... but of the twenty or thirty "big" acts in the country, none make straight up pop music. And then Nakatomi Towers come along to save the day.
They might not appreciate being termed *just* pop - this is 'electro-pop' if it's anything, but regardless, this band write catchy hooks, with the type of female vocalist and 80s sensibility that could really see them fit snugly into a top ten often full of similar sounding (if totally inferior) 'pop' acts.
