White Rose Transmission debut album: The project of two well-known musicians: Carlo van Putten, singer of German New Wave of New Wave hopefuls THE CONVENT and initiator of this project, along with Adrian Borland ex-mastermind of the British cult band THE SOUND and currently a solo artist. The idea of presenting his poems in some way was considered by van Putten for quite some time. In Adrian Borland he found a competent partner, who gave him the musical support he needed.
The prevailing mood of the album is one of dreamy melancholy and the gentle, deep melodies, which never sound cliched, would melt even the coldest of hearts. The production is clearly very much shaped by Borland's extensive experience and noticably carries his 'mark' which also worked to his advantage in relation to his solo albums, above all Alexandria. Third man in the group is the earlier Convent multi-instrumentalist Florian Bratmann, who has also co-written several of the songs. Three of the 13 tracks are in German, with "Allein" even a possible hit in the discotheques. Ultimately a very successful debut particularly recommended for autumnal nights in front of the fire.
ZILLO MAGAZINE.....
A project involving Carlo van Putten (The Convent, vocals), Adrian Borland (ex-The Sound, guitar) and Florian Bratmann (keyboards and programming). The beautiful part is that even with this pedigree the band's style is not limited in any way.
Carlo's singing and Adrian's guitar playing are easy to recognize at any time, however White Rose Transmission are as much capable of producing piano ballads as rock-songs, romantic guitar-music as for Spinett waltzes, Doors covers or Chameleons-like wave, as well as all points inbetween. With the best will one cannot really conveniently 'pigeon-hole' this album (although Borland tries with the term, "techno blues" however who knows what that is until they've heard it?). German and English lyrics are utlised and the three members leave no doors closed musically, nevertheless the songs never sound half-baked or less than fully-formed. A versatile album for people who enjoy something different.
is a project that whenever it will happen it will happen ! (Adrian Borland & Carlo van Putten)
White Rose Transmission started in1995 as a collaboration between Carlo van putten (at that time vocalist of the Convent; now the singer of Dead Guitars) and Adrian Borland (frontman of english 80's cultband The Sound).
The name is a combination of two aspects. Carlo was very impressed when he read the story of Hans and Sophie Scholl, two members of the anti nazi organisation "die weisse Rose" They dropped anti nazi propaganda flyers into several universities in Germany during the second world war. Both were found guilty and were murdered along with 5 other members. That's how the name 'White Rose' came about. Adrian's idea was to put 'Transmission' behind it... "we keep transmitting, hope you are receiving".
Later Florian Bratman joined in. WRT became a project that whenever musicians joined, a new album would be created. So far three albums have been released with different line ups. Several brilliant artists participated and 'White Rose Transmission' became an outlet for their creative idea's. Mark Burgess of The Chameleons, Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls and Marty Willson Piper are only a few to mention on the long list.
After the sudden death of co-founder Adrian Borland in 1999, WRT came to a halt until 2006 when Carlo decided to pick up things again and released the songs he wrote together with his friend Rob Keijzer under the flag of WRT. In 2007 Frank Weyzig (ex Clan of Xymox) joined in and together Carlo, Rob and Frank are now working on the fourth WRT album "Collector of Souls" which will be released in the spring of 2010......

One of the most underrated, under-appreciated bands of all time, They should have been up there with U2 and Joy Division
England 1981.
The Chameleons wurden 1981 in Middleton/Greater Manchester (England) gegründet.
And BUSHART CARRY ON WHERE THE CHAMELEONS ENDED !!!!!
Hey Carlo, Can't believe it's been 2 years already. Some days it feels like yesterday. Good to see some of their friends are still checking in. Sadly, many have dropped off. Anyhow, All the best for 2009... With Love, KayXXXXXXX
