Her name is White Widow, and her home base is webbed across New York and Austin. IMPACT PRESS praises, "This is girl-fronted rock with balls, yet has an enticing sweetness to it that the Widow uses to lure you into her web." White Widow has been touring the nation for years now. Starting at the legendary rock club CBGB's and traveling through Italy on the Arezzo Wave Festival Tour, she has opened for such acts as Grammy Nominee Dave Rave and the Semi Precious Weapons. She has shared the stage with guitarist Steve Mazur of Our Lady Peace, and Grammy nominee Grayson Hugh. In 2007, Dewars sponsored her and featured her in their Collective Series which appeared in the Village Voice. Time Out New York raved "White Widow....growling, angsty vocals and gritty lovelorn lyrics!"
White Widow just threw her release party for her new album, Black Heart, at the Mohawk in Austin. Last year, she performed in two SXSW showcases (Invasion of the GoGirls, and the USA Songwriting Showcase). The Austin Chronicle claims "The song 'I Break' really breaks her out of the coffeehouse clutch!"
Many of White Widow's recordings have been featured in films, and national television. Several tracks from her 2005 release, No Wood To Knock On, where featured in the MTI horror film Ice Queen, which was heavily promoted through FANGORIA. Indie-Music.com stated, "Some tracks are gritted-teeth rants, others are simply mysterious and seductive, but you definitely get the feeling that this woman is a bit off balance. You're never quite safe, even when she's purring invitingly." Many tracks are continually used on the Daytime TV Shows The Young & the Restless and All My Children, and the catchy song "It's My Birthday" was featured in the 2008 DVD release of Nash Bridges (Paramount).
White Widow performances are always memorable. Boston's METRONOME magazine raves, "...smooth, emotional and powerful and perfectly suited to her passionate songwriting...affectionate singing and emotionally charged lyrics. This gal can really sing." Her band gets you on your feet while her voice tangles you in her web. At her shows you can expect to hear menacing lead guitar lines, melodic bass interjecting with heavy drums with sharp angsty vocals cutting through leaving you on the edge of your seat as her voice soars high.
Her latest release, Black Heart, has already been licensed to MTV and is distributed through IODA.
