The Fifties, The Tipping Point, The Kite Runner, Horton Hears a Who... Ok, I haven't read a book in like, a year.. I ain't gonna lie and tell you all the cool stuff I read to makes me look even smarter than you already think I am... my brain is napping. I'll fill this in when I get back to reading.
Hello everybody, welcome to my place.. What can I say? Like a lot of you I'm just looking for some meaning in this life, through friends, music, art and words.. I'm primarily a guitar player, then add some bass playing, songwriting, singing and writing to that.. I am so grateful that I get to play music and make a living just doing what I love the most. When I was a kid, I slept with my 1968 Goldtop Les Paul and would wake up gazing at it like I would my girlfriend. Every night I dreamt of doing what I get to do now.
I started out with the late, great Bobby Pickett, doing the Monster Mash, then played with Etta James for 14 years as her band leader. I wrote for and played with Smokey Robinson and toured for years in France.. somehow after all this time, I landed in Paul McCartney's band and am having the time of my life. I wrote and recorded my first solo record, Mondo Magneto and am really pleased with it. Check it out if you feel like it!
Also, I just finished Chris Cornell's new solo CD and did a show with Steven Tyler in the Bahamas too.. it's been insane.. Lucky stars are out lately!
I did shows with Rod "The Mod" Stewart and played a show with Scott Weiland. Then I recorded a new record with Johnny Hallyday for France. I returned to Paris to do some television promotion with him as well. What an amazing year 2007 was.. I got to play with some of my favorite singers in the world. But it was a bittersweet year too. I lost my sister and my mentor, Jean over the summer. Life just keeps on surprising us all....
I dig dreaming and eating and hanging w/my peeps, walking laughing and surfing [and swallowing mouthfuls of sea water while trying] I like surprises, making you laugh, my Aunt Lee and, oh.. I really want to get a dog! But I'm gone too much, ya know? harrrrrumph!! My friends, family and music rule my world and make it all seem bright and shiny.. I need them and all of you too!!
Did I mentioned how much I love playing guitar? I was in the studio for 9 hours the other day and when we had finished, I just wanted to keep on playing..
Ok, that's enough outta me.
I'll do my best to keep up my blog more regularly.. but I do best when I'm not pushed.. so back off!! hahahaha! Anyways... have a look around and ENJOY !! [don't you hate it when a waiter says that?] PEACE! I'm Audi ...2007 [O.G. Rapper speak].
Hi Brian, So will you and the boys be doing The Fundraiser with Pudsey this up and coming November 20th, for The Children In Need ?. I know you've been working hard practicing with Mr.McCartney and The Boys . :) Hope all is well on the other side of the puddle . Take Care, Pattie :)
Love your songs Ray! Brilliant! Full of energy and emotion, very inspiring, refreshing and pleasant to listen to. God damn i wish i was a musician sometimes. Well used to play the guitar and sing a bit, but sadly have neglected my musical side, but it's never too late. I particularly like the songs Anywhere But Home, Lonesome Town and Tears Of A Clown, but they're all good. You ROCK!!! Love as always,
Jolly (Rumpel/The Wordly Kangaroo Fool of Oz)!
Love and light... Love is the greatest power of all...
