john shelly and the creatures on BalconyTV!
john shelly and the creatures on BalconyTV again!
Influences
Elliott Smith, Eels, Tom Waits, Neil Young, The Beatles, The kinks, The Band, Looper, Belle & Sebastian, DJ Shadow, David Holmes, Postal Service, Wedding Present, Led Zep, Kings of Leon, Pearl Jam, David Byrne, Quasi, Dan Johnston, Beach Boys, Neil Young...yeah i know we have him twice..the mans a legend!, Bright Eyes, U2, Oasis, David Bowie, Radiohead, we’d be here all day..
john shelly and the creatures are a collection of friends all under one roof. It was started by walter and phil one day in late December 2006. They were swiftly joined in January 2007 by college friends and since have been picking up talented musicians who are nice enough to play with them for love of the music and just general goings on around. It was originally intended to be a show case for all involved and hopefully in the next few months, you, the viewers can make this come true.
Everyone involved in this project is here for love of doing something slightly different at least thats what we hope.
The band have been recording for the last few weeks now and hope to have finished their second EP in the next month or so. They released their debut EP, "Big Day Out", in August 2007 and started playing live shows as soon as they had something to sell. Hopefully they'll be playing somewhere close to you in the near future so stay tuned!

You bastards! I stopped listenin to your demo for a bit, about 2 weeks or so, so id enjoy it more when i started listenin again (as ye do with die musik these days), anyway to cut a long story short, I listened to Heavyweight today and I am once again filled with complete envy and admiration. AAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
Beautiful stuff lads, when I grow up I wanna be just like u guy'ses fo sho.
howdy creatures, hope yis are are spiffing. I wish to say two things. 1: Angeline is a really great track 2: Do you want to do a gig together in July sometime, north or south? any suggestions? I promise to lock the audience in the room and you can go onstage first :) Played in Dublin on Mon past, 'twas class, Dubs are more attentive than Belfastians, to my mind...with this subtle flattery I leave thee/s ...slan, Joel
You've made excellent use of that there Verbzilla- sounds cla! (as they say in Newry) Lovely tune and very catchy, like some kind of catchy disease that you can catch from listening to catchy music. A good disease.
Cheers man. Hopefully see ya at one of the next gigs when our drummer lands on this island again. I'll definitely try and catch you lot when you're playing in Belfast again.
thanks for the very cool comment man. we must get up to your belfast gig and give you some extra support, not that you will need it mind you.love the tracks by the way.fuckin awsome.
We're on last so i guess we're talking about 11 or thereafter. Can you make it? Go on, i owe yis a pint, for being nice people. And for sexual favours. Plus i didn't get to meet Larry the Leper last time:(
