i was seventeen maybe eighteen, dying under a crush.she was a beautifull kinda hippie stoner girl with long straight red hair, pale and frail, wore sweaters and dresses, lotsa jewelry and one summer evening to my total amazement she came and picked me up from my shitty job.The sun was setting and the sky was all oranges, pinks and reds and as we rode along,my heart pounding through my chest, i listened to Pale Blue Eyes for the very first time, coming through her car stereo. With some cheap wine, pills, a little smoke she took me to a park just outside the city. She laughed at things i said and i really had no idea why.sitting in the grass and listening again to lou Reed and the velvet underground she leaned over and lay her pretty head on my lap.for hours we stayed there like that.As it grew dark, somewhere, nowhere in the midwest, my mind slowly being blown.
as a kid i remember lying in the back of an old beat up farm truck parked in a field somewhere outside iron mountain michigan and hearing a tape of neil youngs comes a time being played.I think this had a strange effect on me that hangs around even to this day.
nothing but the bob dylan bootleg series and a boom box in the back of a car high on hippie speedballs for a week driving to california and seeing the west like this for the first time i think did something to me also

so i gave bobby numbers a ride home from the springwater last night. he tried to get me to come in at 3am and paint a picture on a 4x4 canvas, so that he could paint over everything i did, except for about a 6 inch square. he just kept saying, 'i won't even charge you for the canvas!!'
by the way, he moved on from that coffee table smashin' lady and got his own place.
he was also wearing a button up shirt covered in playboy cover print.

i enjoyed your show on saturday! i'm glad you made a stop in dayton. it looks kind of difficult to play the harmonica and sing and play guitar at the same time, but you did it quite nicely! :D
