The name H2 Music Group Worldwide may not be a household name yet, but you know its work. Spawning double platinum hits like Divine’s “Lately” and being honored as nominees at the 2003 Grammy Awards for R&B Song of the Year “Good Man” performed by Grammy winner India Arie, Will Baker and Pete Woodruff are at the helm of the world’s hottest upcoming Super-Producers. The team has produced and wrote songs for many of today’s hottest artists who have collectively sold over 15 million records. Influenced by a family of musicians Will, a native of Indianapolis Indiana, was just twelve years old when he started writing and composing music. His desire to become a songwriter was defined after hearing his uncle record the song Bedazzled written by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Will attributes his musical inspiration and success to the dynamic duo, “L.A.” Reid and Babyface. Their musical writing and production styles have influenced his career. “After watching them take the music industry by storm in the 80’s, I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do,” said Will. In 1993, Will met up with Pete Woodruff. Pete, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania moved to Indiana to follow his dream of being a musician. His extraordinary music ability on the piano landed him a brief touring gig with Ready for the World, and has toured all over Europe as the Musical Director for the Gospel Family, which he still tours with to this day. Although Pete attributes his talents first as a gift from God, his major influences include his mother, as well as sister and brother in law, all of whom are accomplished musicians. Will and Pete soon formed a band, patterned behind the music style of The Deele, an American 80’s R&B band featuring L.A. Reid and Babyface. After performing at a national talent search, the band caught the attention of Laface A&R Representative, Tony Mercedes. Tony brought the band to Atlanta to showcase for L.A. Reid, and instead of signing the band, he signed Will and Pete to publishing deals with Windswept Pacific/HITCO Music and thus…H2 was born! H2’s first song ever released “Lately” performed by Divine, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 14, and two weeks later it reached number 1! The single reached double platinum status, propelling Will and Pete to new and exciting heights, and launched them into being named, by Billboard, as one of the Rock Eras most prolific songwriters and producers. Will and Pete continue work with major artists such as Pink, (Stop Falling) India Arie, (Good Man) up and coming H2 phenomena Sonji, and a host of others. You can currently find Will and Pete in the studio scoring a new film, as well as recording songs for the highly anticipated southmore album from 19 yr old Megan McCauley (Wind-Up/BMG). Additionally, H2 Music Group Worldwide has scored films called “The Way Back Home,” starring legendary actors Ruby Dee (American Gangsta) and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. H2 has a joint venture with Velocity Media Group, whos partners are Shalik Berry former Director of A&R for Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam and Hassan "Agent" Bouhairie. From the first meeting and to this very day, the musical connection between Will and Pete is undeniable. Equipped with determination and unquestionable talent, not only have they built a lasting friendship that is only compared to brothers, they continue to deliver hits with poetic lyrics and lasting style.
