Winterborn was formed in 2004. Groups music combines elements from classic heavy rock to more modern forms of heavy music and even beyond the traditional lines of rock. The very wide range of musical influences of the band can be heard in their music. But the main things still are striking riffs, capturing melodies and singer Teemu Koskelas extremely strong and unique voice. Winterborn also has something that can..t be described. Something that makes these 6 guys Winterborn and distinct them from the rest.
At the end of 2006 Winterborn released their debut album with German label Massacre Records. The critics around the world loved the album, acclaiming it as the album of the year and the most remarkable debut since Sonata Articas Epliptica. Band received a lot of attention in Central Europe and managed to do their first european tour with legendary Doro before the year was over. With this tour and good media coverage band was building strong foundations and fanbase in important market-area of Central Europe.
The next year 2007 band went thru some difficulties inside the band as they were preparing the follow-up to their Cold Reality album, which was winning listeners to its side with steadily growing numbers. During the year group did few live shows, was writing new songs, fired their management and started the recordings of the new album still with the original line-up. But the inevitable changes came in September. Band fired bass player Janne Suvanto and to his replacement came Pasi Kauppinen who was allready familiar to the band, and also recorded and mixed the first album, and was now working with the second one. Because of the renovation of the studio, changed schedules and changes in line-up, making the album took a long time and was completed not until May 2008.
The line-up changes didn..t stop there. In March 2008 original drummer Rami Heikkilä had to go and Lauri Bexar came in to replace him. And besides that, band also recruited another guitar player Antti Hokkala.
Brave new Winterborn and new " Farewell to Saints" album will be introduced 2008 in Japan and in the beginning of 2009 elsewhere. With the album and live shows Winterborn will prove that they belong into the elite of heavy metal bands.
