'Wire Daisies' - album release - 14th May (physical/digital)
'Rocket Girl' - pre-release 1 track - 3rd April (digital only)
'Rocket Girl' – single release 4 track – 7th May (digital only)
Cornish four-piece Wire Daisies release their eponymous second album on 7th May through Transistor Project/EMI Angel. The Wire Daisies’ combination of traditional singer/songwriting and gutsy rock is a potent mix and a powerful follow up to their debut 'Just Another Day'.
Recorded with John Cornfield (Oasis, Supergrass and Muse) at the band’s own studio in Cornwall, The Barn, Redruth, the album highlights the eclectic mix of the band's writing. The album moves from out-and-out rock tracks such as "Wake Up" and "Time Will Tell" to full-blooded Treana Morris' ballads, such as "Never Meant To Hurt You", "Silver Top" and "Leaving So Soon".
Ol Beach explains: "It's almost like our third album as there has been quite a gap between the two. We have all matured in many ways both musically and otherwise, and this comes across in the sound and song writing. This album is more guitar driven than our first, and the songs are more cutting edge. Of course the essence of the Wire Daisies sound is still there in songs like 'Never Meant To Hurt You' and 'Leaving So Soon'."
The first single to be lifted from the album is the instantly memorable 'Rocket Girl'. Singer Treana: "Rocket Girl is the most lighthearted on the album, it started with a guitar riff of Ol's and developed from there. It just seemed like fun to write about having a long distance love affair with someone from another planet. It also seems to fall in place with current desire to search for love in the universe by way of the internet."
Wire Daisies are Treana Morris (vocals), Ol Beach (keyboards), Alden Evans (guitar) and Steve Jackson (drums). Queen’s Roger Taylor discovered Treana singing with Alden and Steve at his local pub in Cornwall. Ol then joined the group and the Wire Daisies were formed. They released the album 'Just Another Day' through the digital imprint Transistor Project and subsequently signed to EMI Angel.
Wire Daisies’ live set is a treat - as evident when they opened for Robbie William and Starsailor and the many festivals they’ve played including Montreux Jazz Festival, Womad and Rock am Ring.
