MySpace a place for friends

„We define ourselves through what we have and deny what we could be“, expresses the frustration of singer Dave, caused by the increasing competition on social status, career pressure and material wealth we all have to face in our day to day lives. People are caught in a vicious circle built on work, apathy and consumption; isolated from the social world outside; without sharing ideas or expressing ideals, suffering in dark places of their hearts one million miles away from their deepest inner desires. We got eyes to face todays problems, ears to hear our yearnings, mouths to communicate and minds to overcome the discontent that fills us. The name WITHIN WALLS describes the prison we live in and aims on breaking out of the cylce that makes us numb to our pleasures and pains, numb to ourselves.
Hardcore punk in all its facets, as a place besides forced norms and values of society, with space for free thoughts and self expression contains the potential of bringing change to our lives on an individual and social level. As far as the boys in WITHIN WALLS got the idea, this scene is much more than just contentless entertainment based on moshparts and stylish clothes. Hardcore is as diverse, colourful and energetic as the people who take part in it. It is intense, unrestrained and meaningful. The bitter taste of social control on our tongue is replaced by the sweetness of freedom.

WITHIN WALLS was founded in October 2005 by Seb and Dave. They joined forces with Katch (drums) and wrote a demo, entitled "1".
After some line up changes Gilli Edge became bassplayer and constant bandmember. In summer 2006 they recorded their first 7"/CDep which was released on BLACKTOP RECORDS. A European Tour followed to promote this first output.
Unfortunatly line up problems made it hard for the band to go on with this fast course.

Sometimes things were pretty desperate, because you need a line up that works and in this bands case it took some time, but "good things come to those who wait". The long awaited split CDep with their friends NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY from Vienna was out in early 2008 and kind of a foretaste for the full length album.

"Set Me Free" is the title of WITHIN WALLS first record, which was released in September/October 2008 on BLACKTOP, COBRA & MIGHTIER THAN SWORD RECORDS. The sound evolved into more 90s than before, with an experimental edge, something else to what most bands are doing. WITHIN WALLS found a path of their own and they will keep track on that one, by holding on unweakend.
