Once upon a time, Ayla wanted to be in a band. After an unsuccessful audition for a band that ultimately never made it anywhere anyway, she told her roommate Robby, "You know, you're just going to have to learn bass." As a joke he told another friend Rebeca who said, "I could teach you bass." And thus a band was born. These three friends forced another friend Idalia to join because she was the only one who could really play her instrument well. Ayla and Robby after a whole afternoon of thoughtful list making, named the band Witty Bastards. We all practiced very hard in a spare room of our friend Brooke's house. We dubbed it the Room of Death for various creepy reasons. After a few shows, mostly for charity events, everybody got busy with school and had to put the band on hold. Eventually Rebeca and Idalia dropped out, but not until after a very memorable trip to Puerto Rico.
Soon after, Ayla met Jeb and Jason through the open mic in Denton. They played together for a while and shared some cool songs. Robby had to drop out for academic reasons. They took on Andrew. There was a long spell where Ayla was too busy to play. Then things started up again, and Jeb had to drop out. Then Ayla decided she didn't want a band anymore and dropped everything.
Ryan and Ely loved her so much they volunteered to help her play her songs at the open mic in Dallas. Then they became her band.
Now Ayla lives in Houston; but the music continues.
