About me:

Obligatory third-person bio:

Win Scott Eckert holds a B.A. in Anthropology and a Juris Doctorate. In 1997, he posted the first site on the Internet devoted to expanding Philip José Farmer's concept of the Wold Newton Family. He has recently served as an expert consultant on crossovers involving characters from pulp fiction and Victorian literature for a lawsuit concerning a major motion picture.

Win is the editor of and contributor to Myths for the Modern Age: Philip José Farmer's Wold Newton Universe (MonkeyBrain Books, 2005), a 2007 Locus Awards finalist. He has written pulp tales for a yearly anthology of Wold-Newtonish stories, Tales of the Shadowmen volumes 1-5 (Black Coat Press, 2005-2009), mostly centered on the adventures of Doc Ardan, a French version of Doc Savage. He has also written stories for Lance Star, Sky Ranger (Cornerstone Book Publishers, 2008) and the upcoming The Avenger Chronicles (Moonstone Books, 2008) and Captain Midnight: Declassified (Moonstone Books, forthcoming).

He is a regular contributor of Wold Newton essays and stories to Farmerphile: The Magazine of Philip Jose Farmer, and he was honored to contribute the Foreword to the new 2006 edition of Philip José Farmer's seminal "fictional biography," Tarzan Alive: A Definitive Biography of Lord Greystoke (Bison Books, 2006).

Win's latest book is Crossovers: A Secret Chronology of the World, coming in 2010 from MonkeyBrain Books.... Unless his novel in collaboration with Philip José Farmer (from an unfinished manuscript and outline by Farmer), The Evil in Pemberley House (1970s Gothic featuring Patricia Wildman, the daughter of a certain bronze-skinned pulp superman, inheriting Pemberley House from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice against the backdrop of the Sherlock Holmes mythos...!) gets picked up and sees print first. Look for an excerpt, and lots of other Pemberley House related material, in issue 14 of Farmerphile (October 2008).

Please help Walter Koenig, "Chekov from Star Trek TOS", Get His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Walter has been nominated for his star and waltersstar.com has raised the money to manufacture and install the star (Thanks!). All Walter needs now is the votes of the Walk of Fame Committee.
Write to the Walk of Fame Committee a polite letter in your own words, why you think Walter should have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. These NEED to be letters from each individual fan in the fan's own words. Not copies, Not form letters, Not chain letters.

Dust and Shadow: an Account of the Ripper Killings by Dr. John H. Watson, available everywhere April 28th....

"At long last, an author of rare talent combines a thorough, enthusiastic knowledge of the Sherlock Holmes canon with truly rigorous research into, and respect for, the Jack the Ripper killings. Where others have failed, Lyndsay Faye's extremely impressive debut novel succeeds, on every level, providing thrilling entertainment without blatant exploitation. It will instantly take a place of distinction among the best attempts of contemporary authors to continue the work of Arthur Conan Doyle, and is, quite simply, a must for Holmes fans and Ripperologists alike.

Everyone celebrates St. Patrick's Day in their own way.

Finnegan was an upperclassman who tormented James T. Kirk during his time at Starfleet Academy.

Finnegan taunts Kirk, "You're a stupid under classman. I've got the edge. I'm still 20 years old.Look at you. You're an old man.
    "

Finnegan wins the first round of the fight that he starts with Captain Kirk.

Finnegan gloats, "Sleep sweet,Jimmy boy. Sleep as long as you like. Sleep forever,Jim baby. Forever and forever.
    "

Kirk finally has enough and he chases down Finnegan and wins the fight.

Spock inquires, "Did you enjoy it, Captain?"
Kirk reflects, "Yes, I enjoyed it. After all these years...I did enjoy it.

The one thing I wanted to do was to beat the tar out of Finnegan.
    "

Hey, Win. I'm still in shock by Mr. Farmer's death. Not only a great writer, but an inspiration to others. But at least we can keep his memory alive and honor his memory by continuing to read and discuss his work and the WNU that he inspired.

At last! I can comment on your story in The Avenger Chronicles! With a stock pulpstyle villain it was an enjoyable read. I noticed you didn't fall into the angst-trap so many of the other writers fell into.benson still grieves for his family, but,he has a job to do in their memory!I suspect that the reason The Avenger wasn't as successful as Doc Savage or the Shadow was the feeling of loss on the part of the hero.
Strangely I thought that was his greatest strength!(Frankly I would have loved for someone to do a Doc Savage/Avenger crossover!)Great work on the story!
