"The first track, Maid in Bedlam introduces Kim Guy's distinctive, moody voice. Some use 'distinctive' without justification, this time it's precisely the right word - the range of her voice adds much to Elowen's sound." from Elowen review by Tim Carroll, FolkWords (www.folkwords.com).
"...I love Kim's haunting, somewhat deep vocals what that they do to lift the sound high above ground." from The Rowan Amber Mill 'Midsummers' review by Markus Eriksson from The Shadows Commence (The Shadows Commence.com)
Burnham FolkFest said:Wyrd Guy. This is Kim Guy of Elowen, and she delivers folk with an ancient spin. Reminiscent of Sandy Denny and Shelagh McDonald, her work is sparse and honed - nothing gets in the way of that beautiful voice and those fantastic songs. Chillingly good".

I've been wrestling with guitars since I was 10, when I used to record my efforts on an old portable tape recorder so that I could then harmonise with myself...a year later I discovered the joy of reverb in the stairwell of our old block of flats in Jo'burg. It's only taken a brief hiatus of 20-something years for me to pick my guitar back up and marry the two when I was given my Fostex MR8HD multitrack...And now, mid 2009, I've got a new studio set-up based around my computer and midi-controller; I can only crave your indulgence while I get to grips with it. Thanks for listening!
Live harmony singing? That's a job for my band Elowen
- our debut album was released in 2008
I'm thrilled to be singing and recording (soon to be gigging) with pastoral-psychfolksters

Hello Kim, can't help with Sachertorte und Kaffee mit Schlagsahne, because my drug is tea ;-) Do you like some Cornish Cream Tea instead (have you ever heared of that before????) with extraordinary scones and home-made raspberry jam? Take the road to Fowey, walk down from the parkingplace and at the harbour front, turn left into the pedestrian area, this highly recommended tearoom then is on the right (been there twice during our summer-holidays)....... Creamy greetings from Germany, the CC's (Detlef)
Hi Kim ! How are you today ? The sun is shining here; I have collected a few beams for you and stored them in a jar which is on the way to you. Hope things look a bit brighter today. Have a good week , hugs and love from Andrea. xxxx
Wow, it's really great to hear you're no longer sending children down the pit over on your side of the ocean. We tried that here and they all came back out as Republicans!
I do very much hope to make it over there in a year or so. I feel it pulling at me. Almost as though I've already been there and have come back with the memorys and the sharing and just simply occasionally slip back in time to before I came and visited all of you.
Hello Kim, fantastic bannerfoto on top of your site, great in B&W. Matches perfectly with your sounds ;-) Groovy greetings in MAJ and min from Germany, the CC's (Detlef)
Hello lovely ! I better send some more love and hugs to take your account even more into the black figures , topped up with a variety of choccies and a nice mug of hot chocolate ( with a big shot of Irish whisky ....although I prefer the Scottish Single Malt...) ! I have often taken a long walk along the coast when nobody else was out there and cried my soul out , interrupted only by heavy swearing at the person who had caused this state of my heart. So if you hear anything like "arsehole, wanker"or similar kind words on the Pembrokeshire Coast it´s only me ....
More hugs , love and choccies, hugs, love and choccies, hugs, love and whisky, hugs, love and choccies, hugs, love, whisky and choccies, hugs, hugs, hugs !!!xxxx
