A banda comeou em 2001, com o objetivo claro de divulgar o Straight Edge e a libertao animal, quando um nmero significativo de Straight Edges recm surgidos na cidade, formaram uma crew, chamada xAMORx, para divulgar exatamente essas duas idias, novas na cidade at ento. O nome veio, e permanece, da idia de fazer HardCore por amor, no por Status. Amor pelo HardCore, pelo Straight Edge, pelos animais. Por buscar a revolta e por amar aquilo que queremos, ao invs de somente odiar aquilo que no gostamos. Amor por uma vida menos superficial e vazia.
Discusses, debates, ameaas, amizades e inimizades fizeram parte da vida da banda. Estava vencida a primeira batalha: fazer notar a nossa existncia enquanto Straight Edges e Vegan/Vegetarianos, levando sempre ao questionamento, sendo ele terminado em concordncia ou discordncia, mas nunca em indiferena.
Com o amadurecimento e a cada troca, muitas trocas, de integrantes a banda foi pendendo cada vez mais para um lado poltico. No que o Straight Edge no seja poltico para ns, pelo contrrio: Sempre tivemos a idia de assumir o Straight Edge para as coisas continuarem acontecendo no HardCore, sem a letargia e contradies causadas pelas drogas, pelo menos em ns, em experincias remotas.
Quando deixamos de pensar que todo mundo deveria deixar de usar drogas e virar vegetariano, percebemos que o respeito est acima disto. O respeito por nossas opes em troca do nosso respeito s opes alheias. E ento percebemos que o importante mesmo era as pessoas se unirem para derrotar um mal maior, o Capitalismo. Esta transio o que marca a poca dos 4 Atos.
Nesse tempo, dois integrantes da banda eram inteiramente envolvidos em ocupaes, campanhas pelo voto nulo e outras manifestaes subversivas e anti-capitalistas. Isto fez com que a banda tocasse nesses temas escritos dentre estas quatro msicas nesse vinil. Infelizmente, a onda de choque que teve em Porto Alegre para assuntos polticos acabara. Desentendimentos entre o que antes era um grupo unido dentro do hardcore, hoje d lugar a diversos grupelhos esparsos e fracos, em relao antes, que passaram mais tempo tentando destruir uns aos outros, do que construir algo, mesmo que individualmente, pra um bem maior.
Durante um bom tempo um clima pesado ficou no ar, mas est tendo seu fim atualmente, com as pessoas que sobraram finalmente colocando em prtica, embora ainda em seus grupos separados, as suas propostas.
Ainda insatisfeitos como Straight Edges, Anti-capitalistas e banda, estamos finalizando um novo trabalho, autocrtico, de coisas que no gostamos de ver no Hardcore e principalmente no Straight Edge. Ir se chamar "The Dark Side of The Straight Edge" (Sim, em aluso ao The Dark Side of the Moon, do Pink Floyd. Se algum tiver interesse em lanar ou ler as letras, nos escreva!)
Talvez esse tenha sido um dos mais significativos amadurecimento que tivemos, como banda e indivduos. Samos do estgio de acharmos que todos tinham, mesmo que no admitindo consciente e inconscientemente na poca, que pensar como ns, passando pelo respeito e a incorporao de algo efetivamente poltico em nossa vida enquanto banda, e hoje reconhecendo que no somos os donos da Verdade, e que ns, tanto como Straight Edges, Anti-capitalistas, cometemos erros e no fazemos coisas totalmente coerentes com tudo o que defendemos.
Quero dizer com isso que descobrimos, ou admitimos, que no porque somos Straight Edges ou Anti-capitalistas, que somos inatingveis. Talvez fosse melhor termos descoberto isto bem antes, talvez no. Faz parte de nossa historia, nossa vivncia, nossa formao de carter. Mudamos. E estamos muito felizes com isso. Felizes de manter as atitudes, atividades e idias que consideramos boas, mas sem o deslumbre da novidade, que cega muita gente, inclusive ns.
Com isso chegamos em uma concluso um pouco triste, porm, educativa e reflexiva: Ns que queramos a cena totalmente livre de drogas e explorao animal, no conseguimos. Ns que queramos colocar Porto Alegre de cabea pra baixo, tambm no conseguimos. Contudo, no desistimos de buscar essas coisas, mesmo que inconscientemente.
Mas uma coisa que nunca demos valor, talvez por somente olhar para o final, perceber que durante toda essa nossa jornada de quatro anos, passaram pessoas por nossas vidas, e passamos pela vida de muitas pessoas tambm. Algumas pessoas ficaram nas nossas, e ns ficamos nas delas.
A frase que diz "se voc quer o possvel, lute pelo impossvel" faz muito sentido para mim hoje. Talvez esta tenha sido a maior vitria que conquistamos enquanto banda: Fazer parte da vida das pessoas.
O Hardcore no nos deu um emprego, uma vida estvel, ou mesmo uma moradia. Mas nos deu uma coisa que dinheiro nenhum pode comprar: Carter. Ns temos um lema, que do comeo da banda, quando ainda ramos somente uma crew: Respeito, Integridade, Honestidade.
Conseguimos respeitar e respeito de pessoas que no pensam como ns.
Conseguimos manter uma integridade quando colocamos, em nossas pouqussimas msicas, letras daquilo que realmente vivemos. E a honestidade, a gente vai usar agora para dizer a nossa nova proposta, que pode parecer humanamente prepotente, ou despretensiosa politicamente:

The band started in 2001, with the objective to spread the Straight Edge and animal liberation, when some Straight Edges appeared in the city and formed a Crew called xAMORx (xLOVEx) to propagate those ideas mentioned above that were pretty new at this moment. The name came from the idea of making Hardcore with love not for Status. Love for Hardcore, Straight Edge, for the animals, for seeking the revolt, for loving what we want besides only to hate what we dont like. Love for a life less superficial and empty.
Discussions, debates, threats, friendships, hatreds are part of this band. Weve won the first battle: to make notorious our existence as Straight Edges and Vegans/Vegetarians, provoking reflections and argues, ending in agreement or not, but never in indifference.
With the maturity and the changes of formation, and it was a lot of changes, the band was getting more political. Not that Straight Edge isnt political to us, on the contrary: we always have the idea to assume the Straight Edge for things keep happening in Hardcore, without lethargy and contradictions caused by drugs, at least in our personal experiences.
When we quit thinking that everybody needed to think and act like us being drug free and vegetarian, we saw that respecting different point of views is above every conviction we have. People respecting our choices and we respecting theirs. Then we realize that the important was people get together and fight against our biggest enemy, the capitalism. That transition marks the IV Acts period.
In that time, two members of the band were completely involved in occupations, denying to vote campaigns and others subversive and anti-capitalist actions. That influenced the band to talk about those subjects present on the songs in this vinyl. Unfortunately, that wave of revolt that had in Porto Alegre ended. Disagreements of who used to be united in the Hardcore, today ended up in many little groups that are not as strong as it was used to be, worrying more in destroy each other than actually build something.
For a good time it provoked a bad situation in the scene here, but it is calming down now, with the people who left trying to express themselves and ideas, even in small groups.
Yet unsatisfied as Staright Edges, Anti-capitalists and band, we are finishing a new work, self critic, about things we dont like in Hardcore and specially in the Straight Edge. It will be called The Dark Side of Straight Edge (and yes, it is a reference to The Dark Side of the Moon from Pink Floyd, if theres somebody interested in release it or check out the lyrics, write to us!).
Maybe that was the more significant maturity we had, as band and individuals. We passed through the stage of thinking that everyone should think like us, even not admitting it, to the stage of respect and getting more involved in politics, and now realizing that we dont own the truth, and that we, as Straight Edges and Anti-capitalists, also make mistakes and we dont do things totally coherent to our believes.
I Want to mean that we found out, or admitted, that it isnt because were Straight Edges or Anti-capitalists, that we are unattainable. Maybe it would be better to discover that before, maybe not. It makes part of our history, of our life, of our character. We changed. And we are happy about that. Happy of keeping the attitude, activities and ideas that we still agree, but without the dazzle of the beginning, that blinds a lot of people, us included.
With that we got a sad, but educative and reflexive conclusion: We that wanted a totally drug free scene and without animal exploration, we didnt get it. We that wanted to put Porto Alegre upside down, also didnt get it. But we didnt give up to achieve those things, even unconscious.
But one thing we never gave value, maybe for looking just to the final objectives, is to realize that during all this journey of four years, people passed through our lives, and we passed through the life of a lot of people also. Some people still in our lives, and we still on theirs.
Hardcore didnt gave us a job, a stable life, or even a home. But gave us something that has no price: Character. We have a slogan from the beginning of the band, when we were just a crew, that means Respect, Integrity and Honesty.
We learned to respect the others and in return we got the others respect also.
We kept the integrity, when, in our few songs, we wrote about what we live. And the honesty we will use now to say our new proposal, that might look humally prepotent, or politically discompromissed:
