DESIGNS CREATED AT 'X'
Above: Last month's winning design by Marc Everett, using the words provided by curator George Pierson: Restoration, Peace & Change JOIN US NEXT TIME!! Saturday, September 20th, a creative amalgamation of LIVE art including 3 graphic designers, electronica music acts, tribal belly dancers, independent fashion designers and other local artists will take over THE NATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER! (across the street from our normal location, BeBar 1318 9th St. NW) for a VERY SPECIAL 4 hour, 21st century Live-Art 'Happening'.
At the event, a juror will provide the participating graphic designers with three words. The designers will have 4 hours to create a poster for 'X', using these words as inspiration for their designs. Their laptops will be hooked up to large displays, revealing their approaches and creative process to the audience.
At the end of the event, the curator will select a winning design. The winner's design will be used on promotional material for the next X as well as potentially incorporated into an art book.
This month we will also be featuring a new drawing and writing game: EAT POOP YOU CAT.

You don't want to miss the fun as these foxy females flaunt their finesse and show off their skills in a hodgepodge of heroines! A new medley of talent each month! This month features an array of belly dance, fire dance, burlesque, drag king, side show and more! We are excite to bring to the stage the sultry Belladonna, the gender bending Ken Vegas, the daring Mab just Mab, and the flair of Meredith Keen. As well as members of BellaTrix and the spicy Ginger Leigh of Peek-A-Boo Revue ( winners of the "Miss Exotic World", Best Troupe 2008 award)!!! So come one, come all to the sly & sexy Vixen Variety Show!
Art Whino joins forces with Tagür Footwear to present Inked Souls, an exhibition featuring customized sneakers and fine art by 35 local, national and international leaders in the Pop Surrealism/Urban Contemporary art movement. Each featured artist will customize one pair of AKA Blank Tagür sneakers along with one painting on canvas.
Black Cats Resident DJ Lil'e will be spinning the night away.

Since its inception into the burgeoning Hip-Hop subculture of the late 70s, a decline in record sales, and the advent of technology, the vinyl record still maintains its relevancy by becoming a conduit for self expression.
This exhibit will feature artists from all over the country celebrating Hip-Hop's age old medium of the spiral groove...
Some artists include Andy T, Billy Mode, Blister, Daniel Edlen, Jon Bollo, Megan Buchanan, Michael Todd Smith, Decoy, Stew Lus, Ellington Robinson and more.
