City streets, white sheets,
Cobble stone after a rain,
Mist rolling beneath the bridge,
Pebble paths and puddles,
A sketchbook, smiling eyes hidden behind a cup,
Sharing a sofa at a cafe,
Endless reflections in fountains,
Enless babble and philosophy to find something yet nothing,
To pass the time, to drift to sleep;
Waking, dreaming, drifting,
Breakfast in the balcony,
From winding street to winding street.
Who I'd like to meet:
People looking to feel and understand the world with the time they have, through people they meet, through things that they do.
People that stop to listen; talk to grow, share, and understand; and don't let the world pass them in a blur.
People that appreciate poetry, art, music, the flicker of a fire and the crackle of wood; campsites and big cities; walks and movies; the crunching of gravel and the softness of sand.
It was somewhere in the past that I lost myself....
Somewhere between trying to be someone and,
Somewhere else I don't remember;
And then on my way to nowhere to fill another minute of my life,
I walked by a tall mirror and my image caught the corner of my eye;
I paused,
Trying to listen,
Thinking I heard the sound of someone familiar;
And without turning around, I stepped back.
Again, slowly stepping back, again, again...
And there I was, standing sideways in front of the mirror,
I raised my head,
I looked to my right and into the mirror,
And there he was,
There I was,
Someone I had forgotten,
Someone I thought was lost in the forest of the world,
Lost among the many things which fill our lives with nothing;
And so I stared, looking past the disguise,
Looking into the eyes of someone I ran away from,
Looking into the distant darkness,
Looking far into the caves within which I was not lost,
Was not hiding,
But imprisoned;
And I saw myself, and saw myself plead,
Saw myself hurt,
Saw myself cry;
Crying, hurt, and pleading to the one I had become,
And grew ashamed that it was this humbled me that pleaded to the
emptiness which I had become.
I would not abandon myself,
I would become that which I should have always been;
Would release what I was ashamed of;
Allow myself to walk from behind the curtain;
And be who I was, not what others expected me to be;
Be something, and abandon the nothing that until today, was me.
Hey there, how's your week been? Sorry we haven't been able to coordinate our schedules lately; I miss hanging out--we always seem to have fun, or at least I do :) Anywho, hope you're doing well, insha'Allah.
Hey...
Thanks for the message... I really appreciate it!
It's funny... I thought of you the other yesterday... I went surfing at our spot in Laguna Beach after 2 years of not surfing. (I just bought a really nice board so I was testing it out) It's a 7'10" which is much shorter than I'm used to but surprisingly I was able to catch a couple of waves... :D
Anyways, hope you're having a great time. I miss hanging out...
hey....
I always forget how amazing your poetry is...
Everytime I go on xorrox.com :) i get amazed that i know someone who can write so beautifully...
I adore you and your writing :)
Look at my profile...
Notice anything different or new?
If no, that's cause you're not looking closely enough...
but I'm sure you'll notice because you have an eye for details and small things :)
Hey... Would you please come back and make that dessert again? Everyone is asking me for the recipe (well, mostly its just me), and so now I wonder; How do you do it?
Later
Hey hey.. How goes it? I have been quite bad about myspace messaging lately, and for that I apologize.
I relayed your message to Jay, to which he gave some witty response which I have forgotten due to the significant time between the response and now ;)
Anyway, I hope that your travels have been wonderful and exciting -- and that you are keeping it real. I figure I'll keep you on my friends list THIS time ;)
I've fallen in love with a pink floyd song.....after Roger Waters...."High Hopes" from their latest album......what a gorgeous song...
You once said that I'd probably like post roger waters pink floyd better because David Gimlore writes in a more symphonic way....You were completely right...
Hey...
Good times hanging out in LA.
Thanks for being a great friend all this time.
Keep in touch. I would like to hear all the juicy stories about your following adventures.

I can't believe it....I'm a real musician now. Sammy has
