It took the mathematicians 4 months and several acid trips to create this bizarre project with just a bass, a drum set and a lot of delay. Mou (from Bam Bam) and Señorita Anhelo (from Mamá Burger) gave birth to a whole album in just 2 days in the studio. SISTEMA DE TERMINACIÓN SEXUAL is the name of their first 4 track 7" wich S-S RECORDS (Sacramento, CA) put out. Here's the catalog: http://207.228.243.82/ss/cat.html
What people is sayin':
"...fuzzy guitars zig zag turbulent like a crippled joyride in the rusty carousel of vampire haunted Santa Carla, there’s a bunch of leather-clad kids with long yellow fangs and cool raybans floating in the darkness outside the bonfire of your keg-party and the rest of the story is pure splatter, which is the way we like it." ( from 20jazzfunkgreats )
"Fierce vocals and memorable hooks aplenty, but it’s weird enough to not fit easily into any one category. Plenty of dicking around with treated vocals in the way that Liars used to do, too. A great start." ( from Dusted Magazine )
"XYX bask in the gas glow of strobbing neon. The blown out bass riffs light up this dogie w/serious post punk glare, Gang Of Four style, while the fem vocals, drum propulsion & additional electo swagger calls to mind the most salaciously charged moments of Maximum Joy, tempered w/the bloodlust abandon of El Chupacabra. They's definitely onto somethin. Lookin forward to more." ( from Siltblog )
"I've only partially digested the latest South-of-the-border S-S discovery XYX, but the new "Sistema De Terminacion Sexual" is hitting some most pleasing spots." ( from WFMU blog )
"Well, here’s the punk sound from Mexico you’ve been waiting for then, wimps" ( from Z GUN)
" No lingual barriers imaginable, though, can prevent any right-thinking individual from recognizing the power of "Microvibraciones," the EP's side-long, clear-cut stand-out." ( from Flagpole )
"Rhythms are strong, supple, and very aggressive, and clever effects bolster the bass sound and add intrigue to the strident female vocals. This reminds me of the punkest, most panicked, and most sharply focused moments of the early-80s Brazilian all-female group As Mercenárias, but a little more ragtag and a lot noisier. And by "clever effects," don't think I mean that this is striving for supremacy of intellect; what I mean is...This band has achieved an excellent full-range sound." ( from Art for Spastics )
"...and XYX, who have only released one 7-inch to date, but have a talent for big hooks and fiendish knob-twiddling which suggests they will go far." ( from Rummage Through The Crevices )
