YM003:::
Yellow Machines present two tracks of heavyweight sci-fi electro-step from Scanone. A-side track 'Sub Prime' delves into post-garage/dubstep slanted rhythms with epic atmospheric constructions for fans of the Seed label's purist hybrids, matching current riddim fixations with electronica ambitions. On the flipside 'Minotaur' lurches under the weight of halfstepped patterns with a properly dystopian synth soundtrack, sounding like early Claro Intellecto meets Loefah in the year 2020. We could easily imagine DJs like Rob Hall or Surgeon mixing this up with industrialized techno styles. For fans of Point B, Combat records or old Gescom styles.

YM002:::
Smart compilation of post dubstep breaktronica from Scanone, Blackmass Plastics, Warlock and Matt Green for Yellow Machines records. Scanone puts his masterful engineering skills to use with a powerful production on 'The Vaults' stripping back the rhythm to the neccessary bare bones and building a beat somewhere between dubstep, breakstep and electro with dub techno influenced chords and a raving electro signal to wild the dance. Blackmass Plastics does a dubby post hardcore electro thing on 'Short Circuit' with his usual scuzzy warehouse vibes, and Warlock reappears from a longtime absence from these pages on a tough electro stepper 'Click Clack'. The other highlight of this 12" comes from Matt Green on 'No Options' with a deadly futuristic steppers style mastered loud and cut with some surprising sound attacks embedded deep within.-BOOMKAT

YM001:::
London's Yellow Machines label launches this, its very first release with one track each by M2J and Scanone. The design aesthetics might look a bit IDM, but the particular brand of electronica on show here takes a huge dubstep influence, placing so much of its emphasis on bass, which is handled with great adeptness in both cases - M2J-The constantly detuning/retuning soundest keeps things interesting, much more inventive than your usual low-end centric outings. Scanone's 'Bleep23' is no less powerful with an ascending, rapid-fire bassline tearing up the woofers. Great stuff.
