Young Goodman is an energetic alternative/rock band from San Diego, CA with a pop vocal edge, complimented by aggressive rhythms from behind the kit and catchy flowing riffs from bass and guitars. Formed in 2005, the band consisted of three members: C.J. Ackerman - vocals, rhythm guitar and lead guitar; Freddy Ackerman - drums and backing vocals; and Kyle Botsch – bass. A fourth member, Adam Minjares, joined the band in Oct 2007 as a lead guitarist and second rhythm guitarist, which has been a great complement to the quality of the live performance and writing process.
Young Goodman has been playing San Diego County consistently for the past two years. In that time, YG has had the opportunity to share the stage with national touring acts Medina Lake, Mayday Parade, The Leo Project, The Higher, Building Rome In A Day, and local bands Flight To Athena, The Frantic Romantic, and Safety Orange.
To date, Young Goodman has independently worked with the A&R Company A&R Select located in West Hollywood and recorded an EP/Demo at Golden Track Studios in Escondido, CA. The demo was recorded/engineered/produced by Chris Obermiller and co-produced by Freddy Ackerman. Young Goodman has currently been gigging at San Diego venues like Canes, Soma, Brick by Brick, Lestat’s, The 710 Club, The Zombie Lounge, O’Connell’s, and The Beauty Bar since June of ‘05 and have made some appearances in the L.A. area at The Key Club, The Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA, and at The Blue Cafe in Huntington Beach, CA. The band has also had the opportunity to have their music placed in the film “Skid Marks: The Movie,” which was played in Ultra Star Theaters in San Diego, CA and Los Angeles, CA. The EP contains three songs out of a fifteen song set, which continues to increase as the project moves in a positive direction. The love for music and the opportunity to perform for as many people as possible drives Young Goodman to put on great live performances, and to become a signed band.
“Epitaph” comes to life –
By: A&R Select
Los Angeles, CA – Young Goodman has been capturing crowds and making fans with the band’s self-titled EP. Young Goodman’s sound comes packing with a whole lot of heart and just as much melody. The music delivers a focused, energetic wallop and sucks you in with emotive songwriting and impassioned performances.
The song “Epitaph” lays out for the world to see the kind of infectious rock for which Young Goodman is responsible. Melodies explode through sharp guitar lines, galvanizing grooves and a formidable assault of rock-n-roll fire. The song was written about a friend’s loss of his father. Ironically, the Ackerman’s father passed away shortly thereafter and a tribute to him was worked into the bridge of “Epitaph”.
