Yuval Ron is an international composer and record producer. He has been actively involved in creating musical bridges between people of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths. His ensemble, The Yuval Ron Ensemble includes Arabic, Israeli and Jewish musicians as well as Christian Armenian artists who unites the sacred musical traditions of Judaism, Sufism (Islamic mystical tradition) and the Armenian Church into an unusual mystical, spiritual and inspiring musical celebration. The ensemble was featured in the World Festival of Sacred Music in LA 2002 and 2005 and performed in numerous events worldwide.Visit Yuval Ron Ensemble’s myspace!
He composed scores for numerous TV programs and films including Proteus, Oliver Twist, The Spiral Staircase, Susie Q and Someone to Die For. He has done field recordings in the Sinai desert with the Bedouins and produced the record One Truth a window into the divine passion and poetry of Sufism with the Sufi master musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek.. A recipient of multiple grants from National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, the American Composers Forum, Mid Atlantic Arts and the California Council for the Humanities, Yuval has worked with the Moscow Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the LAJS Symphony, and the New Hampshire Philharmonic.
In 1998 he released his first solo recording "In Between the Heartbeat" on Simulacra Records, followed by the CD "In the Shallows" in 2001. In 2003 he released the albums Under the Olive Tree with the Yuval Ron Ensemble featuring Najwa Gibran and the album ONE a desert voyage to the experience of oneness on Magda Records featuring Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Yair Dalal, Azam Ali and Haim Louk. His latest CD is Tree of Life released on Magda Records in 2005.
Yuval received commissions from various international choreographers including Daniel Ezralow (American Repertory Ballet), Ashley Roland (ISO dance company) , Oguri (Renzoku Dance Company) and Paula Jose-Jones. In 1997 he was musical supervisor and vocal director for the double CD album of the musical "Masada - the musical Saga" featuring Davis Gaines. His original scores for theater productions includes Shakespeares The Tempest, Yeats Amers Jeleasy and Becketts Casscando.In 1997 he was musical supervisor and vocal director for the double CD album of the musical "Masada - the musical Saga" featuring Davis Gaines and in 2006 musical arranger for Yo Yo Ma Silk Road Ensemble.
Yuval is also a noted lecturer and leader of workshops and master classes at numerous schools and universities in the US and abroad, including Berklee College of Music, UCLA, MIT, John Hopkins University, Brandeis university, UCSD, SCUN, UCSC, Boston Center for the Arts and the Sam Spiegel Jerusalem Film School.
He had been the curator and host of world music concert series The International Underground at the UCLA Hammer Museum from 2000-2002.
