ZEBRA JUNCTION IS A POWER DUO OF SEXTET PROPORTIONS
Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Flitz Alan & Micah Lundy are currently wrapping up their 4th studio album and planning American and European tours.
Working with a collection of rare, hybrid and homespun instruments, this power duo's Vaudeville approach includes “creative” percussion, baritone guitars, and such unconventional instruments as the banjo-ukulele, a hyper-modified Playskool tape deck used for “scratch”, toy piano, and numerous samplers and effects to morph “old school” into “no school.”
If Tom Waits, Tim Burton, and the White Stripes baked a cake together, it would taste and sound a lot like Zebra Junction!
ZJ was again nominated as one of Denver's top bands in 2008. They recorded a musical album with Denver's own comedy superstar Josh Blue to be released in Spring/Summer 09. This album includes a live performance w/ Blue at Red Rocks Amphitheater in front of a sold-out crowd!
IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN YOU WILL HEAR:
Zebra Junction, both live and in the studio, melds together a deeply eclectic group of styles. They seamlessly move from funked-up bluegrass to drunken
Tin Pan Alley ragtime; from the Celtic sounds of a whaling ship, to colorful electronic grooves, to effortless harmonies. This gutsy-rootsy, high energy power duo, with their creativity and unique repertoire, conjures up a fresh experience that takes the listener from living room to amphitheater. All aboard!
Hope is such a marvelous thing. It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides, but rarely does it break. It sustains us when nothing else can. It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead, when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.
Hope puts a smile on our face when the heart cannot manage. Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes can not see it. Hope moves us to act when our souls are confused of the direction.
Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and something that will refresh us in return. And it can be found in each of us, and it can bring light into the darkest of places.
Hey, Im posting new videos today! New pictures too!
And TUESDAY July 14, the band will be filming a performance for the tv show at SAXON PUB! Be in the audience for the tv show 4:30 to 5:30!!!!!!!! Ruby Jane
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
