Andrew Humphries first came to prominence through his involvement in the Goa/Psychedelic Trance scene, firstly as a DJ at seminal New Years eve parties “Dragonflight” in Brisbane and the “Summer Dreaming” festivals in NNSW, and then writing for Sydney dance paper 3D World. A move to Europe saw him working with some of the top names in the scene whilst touring constantly. With over 15 years experience Andrew Humphries is a highly accomplished and respected performer around the world.
Most well known for his involvement in Voice of Cod with Colin OOOD, whose two studio albums drew high acclaim for great hooks, funky phat beats and gave rise to an impressive international touring schedule, Andrew also compiled CDs and worked tirelessly behind the scenes for Organic Records as A&R.
• Voice of Cod released 2 albums on Organic Records, plus releases on Transient Records & Liquid Records compilations.
• Festivals/Parties played include: Glade (UK), Rainbow Serpent x 2, GoaNoa Fest (Germany), plus gigs in Greece, Czech Republic, Spain, Denmark, Portugal and the USA (4 times). For more details check out http://www.voiceofcod.com/pages/Andrews_DJProfile.html
Andrew has also hosted Web Radio shows on highly rated internet station www.pirate-radio.org with DJs such as Shane Gobi (Alchemy) and Aphid Moon(AMD/Nano), plus released tunes under the guises of Zuloop & Mr Biscuit.
Now having returned to Australia, Andrew has been playing some final gigs as Voice of Cod including dates at Earthcore and Rainbow Serpent 2008/09. Presenting the 7th Annual GAIAN MIND SUMMER FESTIVAL Summer Solstice / Full Moon June 18th-22nd, 2008, Central PA, USA Extended dates - gates open Wednesday!
Well hello there son! Blinding, belting, bonkers set last week - total fun! Alas Nick had taken me out all day flyering/drinking LOTS of cider (actually more of the latter really), so was rather hammered by the time we hit the gig. Good, great fun though - you and Dita fancy dinner at mine at some point?
What is the most characteristic about the scene? What differs it from all other scenes? And especially: What is it that makes you loving or perhaps also hating this scene and this style of electronic music?
So I have done a bit of house keeping on my page. I have updated my "top friends" to reflect those people or groups that have played an inspirational role to me. I am just stopping by to thank you for giving me a reason to put you up there. N.M.R.K.! BOOM!
