Reviews
"Refute Fake Icons is intelligent, inventive, tuneful and confident, and it has bucketloads of style. If you like electro with a kick or a slickness to your rock 'n' roll, I would swiftly point you in 100 Bullets Back's direction"
Drowned In Sound
"Cool as F electro pop"
Organ magazine
"Unsigned album of the month"
Blah Blah magazine
"...a local band on the cusp of greatness..."
BBC Radio Oxford
"...some of the most infectious trappings of electro-pop / post punk / dance crossover weve had the pleasure of hearing all year."
Losing Today magazine
"This is a cool record that updates the synth-pop template with a light touch, high energy and panache, clever without being smartarse, catchy without striving for effect. Its impressive and more importantly, its fun."
Damn Pest
"Their hyperactive synth-heavy electro rock n roll is definitely what the people want...Their disco vibe is really intense and Id go as far to say that this album is more an experience than just a bunch of songs...All in all, a great album from a new and up n coming band."
Screaming Tarts
"Cracking 21st century pop, not to be passed by! Producing a new age electro sonic sound experience, this album will make you feel real good. (CD of the week August 31st)."
The Overflow
Club
We used to run a monthly electro trash/techno/dance club night @ The Cellar, Oxford called Abort, Retry, Fail? for two years. It was much fun but all good things come to an end (check out the link in our Top Friends for all the memories). We may do one off shows in the future. Maybe.

First there where two. Then there were three, then there were four, then lots of other variations of these numbers. Now once again there are two. The blonde one and the brown haired one.
It all started in days gone by. Acoustic guitars were strummed. Songs were written. The Hairy Palmers were born. Woodsy went around the world (although not in the Daft Punk direction). Cider and Black, Potatoman, Atticus…all were...then weren’t. We all went traveling.
Then, it was time for something different. 1. Electric guitars 2. Bass 3. Electronics and sequencers 4. Drums machines 5. 100 Bullets Back.
Records were released and some people got excited. Limited edition 7" singles, The Lost Souls Club / Violence and I KnOw / Bangkok (Velocity Recordings). And an album? Yes. Refute Fake Icons (Velocity Recordings). Electro pop. Lovely.
Even some airplay? Yes from London to Los Angeles, continually play listed by Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ in LA, championed by Claire Sturgess on XFM in London, plays on numerous local and college stations and for good measure airplay in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Serbia. A tour of Italy followed. Yeah!
And gigs. Support slots with Bloc Party, TV On The Radio, The Zutons, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Tom Vek, The Young Knives, Shy Child, Metronomy, Zoot Women and a slot at the legendary Truck Festival (including the very ltd. edition U.21 Girls EP) to name but a few… some people were still excited.
Then there was our club night…ARF? DJs, DJs everywhere…and Crime. Two years of beats, beats and more beats. Beats are good, although all good things come to an end don't they?
Now, once again then are two. The second album is long overdue but with sessions still in progress, it’s hoped to be released later this year. Which is soon no?

TRIPWIRES The four piece actually started out as far back as 2002. They were all about 12. They are still all under 19. They are now not only one of the best forward thinking local bands around, they should be easily the next local band to step up to the next level. This is a band that you would be (very) stupid to miss.
"Think Biffy Clyro meets Cooper Temple Clause. Compelling British Rock, " Designer Magazine www. myspace. com/tripwires
MR FOGG A rare live outing by local electronic pop genius. Mr Fogg is rated by a who whos in the world of UK media. He has done numerous live sessions for everyone from Janice Long to Tom Robinson. Live he seriously rocks, as he employs a live band that consists of ex members of Libor Spacek and current members of Pure Reason Revolution.
THE WOOKIES They used to a tad too progressive rock. You know the sort of band who think growing a wacky beard is cool or wearing sandals. They have been hanging out with ex members of Wire and listening to Slayer. This makes them a far more exciting and sexy prospect of a musical adventure. They sing about hospitals and animals and hose pipe bans. Crazy kids. "They play jazz-infected indie pop and they are here to save the world with some of the oddest pop songs ever," Josaka
THE STORM EXPLOSION The Storm Explosion number four, they remind us of the long long lost mighty God Machine. If you dig Godspeed, Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai and Richard Ashcroft as a singer then they could quite (easily) by your favourite new band. This is their debut gig.! Turn up early. www. myspace. com/thestormexplosion

CLUB VELOCITY MAY 30TH Date Friday May 30th 2008 Venue Rising Sun Arts Centre 30 Silver Street Reading Berkshire RG1 Doors 8pm Tax £5 on the door £4 flyer Bands DESDEMONA/SIXTY WATT BAYONETS/MIDIMIDIS DESDEMONA Local Living Legends. Lets be frank if it wasnt for Desdemona-then the music (Local) scene seriously would not be what it is now. There would be Pete and the Pirates, no Laura Marling, no Beggars and so on. They are main stayers of the Reading music scene. The great late John Peel loved them. The Germans still do. They basically run the umber cool/sassy music publication Artrocker. They are GODs in our house. www. myspace. com/desdemonapop SIXTY WATT BAYONETS Our fave female fronted punk/soul band for years. This will be their sixth ever gig and they have improved ten fold since their debut outing. They could be the revolution. Recently played on the near legendary Popscene Radio Show in Germany. Soon to mixed by Adam Whitaker (currently working with Amy Winehouse) This band are starting to burn-this is one fire that could never go out. www. myspace. com/sixtywattbayonets MIDIMIDIS Two sex GODS, who are creating their own punk rock. Musically totally on another planet. Their backing band is basically a Play Station. Some might call this chip music. Others 8 bit. Its like no other band on planet Earth. Imagine the posh boy from Strokes whilst Sonic Youth rip guitars until your ears bleed and 'crazy' beats being created on a small box. Awesome. www. myspace. com/midimidis
