After catching by breath in early june from the summer season
launch in europe, I madly went to Brazil to spend the European
Summer Solstice in their Winter! Which actually means their winter
solstice and the shortest days of the year. Now, that is not
necesarily a bad thing when the temperatures were often sunny
and in the mid 20's celsius AND with long nights... excellent
for partying all night long. 9 super dates in brazil with my
man GUGHA from CRASH who throws the famous Kaballah parties.
ALL the gigs were superb - especially in Campinas and Curitiba,
and it was a real pleasure really getting to know more cities
and the people of Brasil. All told I probably played for about
40,000 people in one tour. It's safe to say I've made a lot of
new friends and hopefully a few more fans;)
After flying back to canada to catch my breath with the family
for a few days I headed to Europe again to jump back into Summer.
I hooked up with Mr. Tenaglia again and Wally Lopez at Space,
did a couple of local festivals in Spain and then a special defintive.
night with Olivier Giacomotto & Tonio in Paris at the new
and very cool SOCIAL CLUB.
I have a special TWO hour mix this time around so that i could
bring your new tunes and some of my best and newest dance floor
jams that i normally don't feature on the podcast mixes. I think
i will call the mix TOO COOL 4 SKOOL, named after the new single
where Olivier and I team up with LA (USA) friend JONNY LEXXS
;) It is currently a top 10 electrohouse hit on beatport.com
and still rising... hope you like it and support it if you do!
Many of these songs can be found at www.beatport.com. Some tracks aren't out just yet, but keep your eyes open at your favorite shop!

Giacomotto teams up with French dj legend Tonio for a big
tune on the
label. As well, we got a killer remix from rising stars Gaz
James &
Hauswerks so I had to chart both tracks. Really liking the
RPO and my
favorite pickadoll in a while. Deep and underground for the
rest of the
chart... keeping it cool for the summer...

"some people in the music business are too serious. You go out, you want
to have a good time, don’t be so serious (...) Music is good, but you should
make a good party" Read the beatfactor.net interview!!
With an unparalleled legacy in the annals of analog and digital electronic music John Acquaviva can boast and list pages of accomplishments in just about every aspect of the music world. But let’s not talk about the past right now. Surging to the very top of the production and DJ world in the past handful of years with a steady stream of club anthems and chart topping tunes, his productions have won over and set the mood for an entire generation of clubbers and clubbing worldwide. Not satisfied with just his own work, Acquaviva has also relaunched the seminal Definitive Recordings imprint, taking it to its highest levels ever, fostering new artists, DJs and producers such as Olivier Gaicomotto, Kid Dub, Robot Needs Oil/Greg Kobe, to mention but a few.
The tireless Acquaviva is perpetually on worldwide tour, trying to keep up with all the requests. Due to incredible demand the past year he has been featured at some of the key Spring and Summer festivals, including BENICASSIM, Global Gathering, Kaballah in Brasilas well as key summer dates such as the Privilige 2008 season opening party in Ibiza, Space with Danny Tenaglia, Nikki Beach in Marbella, Cocoricco in Riccione, Tito’s & Abraxas in Palma and closer to home at Toronto, Canada’s new mega-club CiRCA with a host of others in between and all over.
As a quick refresher course, John began his international career in 1989 with Richie Hawtin by founding one of the world's best known and influential techno labels, Plus 8 Records. In 1993, Acquaviva and Hawtin also founded Definitive Recordings and the label is now celebrating 15 years of legendary club and underground anthems. An acknowledged pioneer of new music and ideas, John was one of the first people to take notice and embrace electronic music’s digital future at the dawn of 2000 by championing Final Scratch. And following that success, John took another enormous step to help launch Beatport.com, the biggest dance-music download site in the world.
His international career has spanned 2 decades now, having DJ’d professionally for almost another decade before that. Throughout thousands of parties millions of people have heard him play and continue to keep him in demand. Get in line or get on the guest-list if you can, and get into the sound and vision of a new generation.
hey John! your tracks are getting better and better man! i am finally getting booked out west! so i will start pumping your tracks here right away.... hope all is good man!
