"Faking Gold & Murder is the third and latest album by Æthenor. Spectral resonances and reflections create an invisible orchestra around the players, journeying from concrete blast-beats to lunar psych meditations. The precision of process frames the work into a suite of improvised pieces that lean so far away from the stereotype it’s hard not to fathom the work as composition. The album features an incandescent vocal textualized performance by David Tibet of Current 93. An immersion into antiquated post-renaissance dreams and perennial philosophy, Tibet heralds a eulogy to a secret history of the “higher ær”. Faking Gold & Murder is by far the most studied and sensitively arranged of all Æthenor, it’s evocative nature being negotiated by a very meticulous sense of ebb and flow."
