Alice and the Majesty is the nom de guerre of singer songwriter Alice McLaughlin, created to encompass both herself as sometime solo artist and her various guises with collaborators. Tinged with folk and blues, Alice performs gritty, soulful, pop songs that cross mainstream appeal with leftfield spirit. On stage she evokes the fierce and the fragile, with passion and spontaneity at the heart of her lyrics.
Alice has been described variously as ‘a female Hunky Dory-era Bowie’, ‘a modern Janis Joplin’, even 'a female Johnny Cash'. Alice’s “stunning voice”, writes Nigel Williamson, combines “the English purity of early Marianne Faithfull with something of the otherworldliness of Bjork.”

Alice, long-time since i spoke to you. (we spoke about Mose Allison before) How you been?
I just heard your new songs!!! SO SO good. Before, is just full of real class. I love it. Actually, i just listened to it again and it is just truly bloomin marvelous!!! And thats an understatement, im telling you.
I loved the guitar playing, mostly, on Time of Our Lives. It sounded like you had Johnny Flynn playing it. My hero!!!
Anyway... Two Superb new songs to go with your others. Take care.
ps, based on the song 'Before', i wonder whether you would like the band The Mummers? They're in my top friends. Xx
Hi Alice, thanks for the add. I would like to tell you that the show in Nottingham (Boddega social club) was great. I loved it. And now I listen "I could love you" every day. I'm very look forward to have your album in my hands. Still congretulation for your great music. See you...
Really like your music. I can hear loads of artists i love in your music, without being able to pin-point exactly who really, other than the odd one or two.
Love the chorus on End of the World. Kinda big. You kinda hear artists try writing a chorus like that but it just comes across as fake or forced or whatever, but you make it sound like it comes from somewhere, which i really like. =D
I really like your influences too. I hardly EVER see Mose Allison in anyones list. I watched a documentary bout him a year or 2 ago and really liked him and thought he was just class.
Hi Alice, it was great to have you back last night.. Many thanks for playing at our little venue... with your big voice. Good Luck, and i hope you can visit us again in the future x
