Volume 2, the functionally named second LP from Durham drum-and-guitar duo All Your Science, is an adventurous, inclusive trip through indie rock sidestreams. A brooding piano ballad bobs in the distance ("Burnt Up") while an accordion-augmented instrumental jerks in nervous waves. Post-rock with epic aims sits alongside faded pop miniatures. Live, expect a still atmosphere stabbed by moments of fermented aggression. —Grayson Currin. 11/4/2009. The Independent Weekly. (link)
All Your Science's largely instrumental pieces suggest a collaboration between Tortoise and Bedhead, its twisting guitar lines generally staid but never somnolent and its snappy rhythms always active but never self-aggrandizing. Were these tunes not so compact, you could get lost in these tones. - Grayson Currin. 9/9/2009. The Independent Weekly. (link)
All Your Science are a guitar/drums duo whose mix of delicate, chiming
guitar & frenetic drums remind me, on occasion, of Spatula. -Ross Grady. 9/5/2009. Triangle Rock
Their first album was an echoey low-fix mix of drum-and-drone and beautiful
minimalist rocksong. -Ross Grady. 8/15/2009. Triangle Rock
nothing short of spectacular. AYS provided a much anticipated prelude to their forth coming unnamed album.

All Your Science is always mind-blowing. It's amazing how good two People, one guitar, and three drums can be.

All Your Science really didn't do much for me. The documentary didn't help matters. ... I guess I just wasn't European enough to get it.

The hypnotically grinding current of vintage electric guitar and thunderous drum splashes strike a delicate parity with the softly delivered melody of Lu Lubenstien's despair drenched shoe gaze vocals. Like lightening to thunder, you feel the angst first and you understand its meaning after.

Be sure you're there when All Your Science play; you'll start out amazed at how
many different sounds Dave Z. can pull out of his tiny backpack drumset,
but that'll quickly morph into more general amazement at how freakin'
good they are.
