True artistry evolves. It is not immobile, but ever-moving; ever-changing. And so from home-grown acoustic roots to the rugged and wily terrain of progressive rock, Andy Osenga transforms with seamless precision… and then some. Thought-provoking lyrics backed by some serious guitar riffs, his new sound pulls inspiration from the likes of John Mayer, Paul Simon and Crowded House. Andy’s songs represent who he has become as an artist – a soulful but personable musician who turns life into song with a seemingly effortless strum of his guitar. “We all grow and change,” says Andy. “And hopefully we grow and change out of who we think we’re supposed to be into who we really are. I think my music is following my own journey in that process.” Andy brings to his anthem-esque songs a deep-rooted message about life and love; a message that is backed by a charged-up live performance with playful rock rhythms and gritty vocals. The result of this evolution is a new sound that is a far cry from the melancholy singer/songwriter tunes for which he is best-known. Andy comes through once again with music that you don’t just hear, you experience.
With an already solid track record having been involved in two bands since high school, The Normals (Forefront Records) and most recently Caedmon’s Call (INO Records), Andy has begun work on his third solo project. His passion for sound is heard in the natural, fluid melodies that sound as though they’ve always been there. When Andy writes, he simply follows the muse he says, letting the sounds show him the way. “I’m learning that, in this process, what I want to happen in a tune is very rarely the thing that needs to happen. Sometimes it’s immediate, sometimes you have to exhaust every option, but at some point the elusive thing shows up,” he says. And as he continues to find his voice as an artist, Andy has learned how to pour his thoughts and emotions into the way he plays his guitar; exploring new ground with song-writing that goes beyond the lyrics into the very heart of the listener. Those emotions reveal themselves in melodies brimming with the hope and energy of this burgeoning guitar hero. Change in life is surely inevitable - but Andy is proving that change isn’t always a bad thing… in fact, it’s very good.
"Kara" is a great song! Keep 'em coming. Stop by our site and check out our newest concert slideshow....we'll soon have more of our latest songs too....in the meantime....God Bless! "LORUSS"
Hey Andy - it's a Scots-Gaelic name for 'Helen'. The Irish version is 'Eileen'. I was named after a fishing boat - I know, it's usually the other way around! Eilidh.
Thanks. Unfortunately I can't take credit as the tie belonged to the guy I'm in the picture with. The sad part was, the line was so long for Illio yearbook pictures we skipped out and got all dressed up for nothing. Anyway, thanks for the quality tunes. Benny B
great new stuff, Andy. (btw ... when did you drop 'Andrew?' ha) Have a great vacation, way to go Sadie (Sunday) and yeah, ask again about the firewood come December. peace, brother.
Wow! Love your music! Great lyrics in all of them. What is the title to the song "reaching out for someone..reaching out for you..can you hear me"? Peace and Blessings, Cynthia
Thanks for the +1. I listened to your new stuff... and I'll say that before this I was a fan of your part of Indelible Grace, and now I'm also a fan of your solo work.
My computer finally let me watch your new live videos (been having trouble with YouTube the last few months for some reason). Looks and sounds good. Looking forward to the new record.
I love the new song. It hits me right at a transitional point in my life where I've grown reflective of past actions. The "falling down and picking up again" line best sums it up. I'm thankful God has brought your music into the world.
