I WANT YOU NINJA TUNE:
"I Want You" hits directly into the heart – a magical blend of soulful dirty jazzy downbeat grooves with the stunning female voice of Dani Cargo.
A pumping dancefloor version of Andy Korg..s "heartbreaker" was created by one of the labels masterminds Parov Stelar, who combined the very spezial mood of this song with his unique art of sampling: a Parov Stelar track is always some kind of different so are his remixes! He..s like the godfather of "dirty old jazz sampling"
Don't be put off by the cover - this is a classic.
BITCRUSHER BEATPORTAL:
Any single release with a digitised mushroom in the vein of Mario’s favourite drug as its artwork deserves a review on Beatportal. Despite the name ‘Bitcrusher’, this track and its Boogie Army remix don’t feature any outstanding examples of bitcrushing on them. All of their processing are, in fact, quite transparent.
And ‘Bitcrusher’ is a very cute release by Andy Korg, sounding a bit like a cult pop tune without any vocals. It’s campy, quirky and soaked in disco fuel – so if big, pink lead synths are your cup of tea, then look no further than the original mix of ‘Bitcrusher’.
Onto the remix by Boogie Army, and you might be wondering what a breaks track is doing in the electro house reviews? Well, it serves as a good example of what Andy Korg might have done to ‘Bitcrusher’ if he had not been taking his happy pills that day. As such, we at Beatportal cry out for a similarly dark electro house remix! This track has more venom to it – its synths, whilst still twee, are played out in darker arrangements, and the surrounding FX and atmospherics only add to an already visceral soundscape.
