ANYONE rose from the ashes of SYLVIA, a band featuring Riz Story as vocalist and guitarist, Jauno as bassist (Sky Cries Mary), Taylor Hawkins as drummer (Foo Fighters) and SEAN MURPHY who co-wrote such ANYONE favorites as REAL and GIVING THRILLS with Story . ANYONE spent those early days throwing psychedelic warehouse parties and defining the very underground scene of Huntington Beach. Story struggled to launch ANYONE while being broke and homeless. "I was sleeping in the back of my chicks car, and if we were having a spat I would sleep under the newport beach pier". It was under that pier that he wrote several songs that would become the basis for the early ANYONE live show. KERRANG MAGAZINE described the live show as being, "Like watching shamans in a trance". One such performance was captured on the early indi release "LIVE ACID". LIVE ACID'S raw unedited LIVE performance earned the band the distinction of OUTSTANDING ORANGE COUNTY ARTIST at the 1999 Los Angeles Music Awards. Orange County was at that time and continues to be a center of youth culture. Realizing this, Story decided to make a film documenting the scene his band was a part of. The resulting film TOGETHERMENT, has become somewhat of a cult classic around the world. By now ANYONE had made enough noise to garner some attention. Offered several deals, including one from KORNS label Elementary, ANYONE signed in 2000 to ROADRUNNER RECORDS. Several tours of Europe followed and the band met with raves from the European press. They played Europe's summer festival circuit including READING, LEEDS, PUKLEPOP, and LOWLANDS . . and according to METAL HAMMER MAGAZINE, "ANYONE delivered one of the most memorable sets of the festival. ANYONE are the most invigorating new act of the year, and have created a new sound, MAXIMUM ACID". The self titled debut remains one of the most critically acclaimed releases of the period. .. .. .. .. ..
