Sounds Like"Like her look, Electra's music is powerful, melodic, and full of strange, unexpected harmonies. The sound dances between electronic and singer-songwriter."
-Laurie Koh, Girlfriends Magazine

"Based on her appearance --- which is hard to ignore, given the '70s mirror shades, Day-Glo leggings, and two-toned neo-mullet --- you might assume that Apryl Electra is some electro-clash warrior, thriving on gender-bending and shock tactics. And you'd be mostly wrong. The local singer's debut album From the Padded Cell of Suburbia, a collection of piano-driven rock songs, goes down smoother, like a less despondent Tori Amos. But as soon as "Who's Keeping Score" shows up with the thump of a mechanical kick drum, it's apparent that this is a girl who knows how to party. I mean, just look at her."
-Lindsay Thomas, City Pages, citypages.com

"She has a great voice and is hyperactively entertaining in an enjoyable way."
-David de Young, howwastheshow.com

"Fearless high minded modern pop. Joyfully blending light and dark with gravity defying chops and a siren's voice. Watch out!"
-Her Vanished Grace

"A magnificent combination of energy, edge and prodigious talent; Apryl Electra has a rich, robust voice and songwriting skills far beyond her years."
-Artcele Records

"One of the best songwriters in the Twin Cities."
--Kat "Pony" Smith, ofthe Melismatics and Mark Mallman

"This is one instance where the cover image has you expecting something other than what is actually inside. Judging by Apryl Electra's look I was expecting punk or at least hard-ish rock. But this is actually more of a pop-rock album. A great one at that. I've been pretty addicted to it since I first listened. There's just enough edge to her music to make her really interesting while still being pretty close to mainstream appeal. Plus she's a piano player and that's always appealing to me. Great strong, yet pleasant voice. The songs are very well written and interesting. The songwriting reminds me a little of Jonatha Brooke (especially on "Kiss the Wind") but more piano based and with a harder edge. "Who's Keeping Score" is kind of discordant and very cool. She puts just enough electronica in to jazz up the songs a little without overpowering them. This is a great record for those who enjoy well written pop-rock music with great vocals and lots of energy."
-Amy Lotsberg, www.collectedsounds.com

"Apryl Electra is Electrifying......pure and simple."
-Larry Ravenswood D.E.M.O. and freelancer

   About Apryl Electra

GET "FROM THE PADDED CELL OF SUBURBIA" HERE!

Apryl Electra is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who began playing piano at the age of six months and started composing music at the age of six years. She writes all of her original material on piano, guitar and/or bass and does her own drum, synthesizer and bass programming.

Apryl Electra’s first CD, From the Padded Cell of Suburbia, is a mix of rock ballads that tell of heartache to songs that speak of strength and empowerment. AE has even created her own style which she calls “electracousticlash”. Electracousticlash is an intelligent mix of acoustic piano and/or guitar accompanied by programmed drum beats, synth bass and other synthesizer sounds and melodies.

In July of 2005 Apryl Electra founded Artcele Records. Now, along with continuing to write electracousticlash music, AE is putting the final touches on her second CD and playing shows around the Twin Cities. She hopes to tour in the near future.
