.. Gli Arbe Garbe nascono nel 1994 col preciso intento di infrangere la barriera folkloristica che circonda la musica popolare per ricreare un identità spuria, che assecondi l’inevitabile evoluzione che da millenni porta al mescolamento delle tradizioni e dei popoli.
Il folk proposto dagli Arbe Garbe ha le radici piantate nei distretti selvaggiamente industrializzati della provincia di Udine; contaminato dal punk, che ha cresciuto e fortemente influenzato i componenti del gruppo, e da tutte le sonorità scoperte e nate durante la loro attività concertistica.
Le lingue dei testi sono prevalentemente in lingua friulana e beneciana (minoranza slovena del Friuli orientale) ma anche italiana e spagnola e si rifanno all’immaginario crudo, poetico, acido, e antiautoritario della band.
Il gruppo, forte di un impatto live devastante, diventa in pochi anni il fenomeno più seguito della nuova musica friulana, esibendosi in svariate centinaia di concerti in Friuli, in tutta Italia; all’estero, fra Germania, Austria, Svizzera, Slovenia, Croazia, Spagna, Svezia, due indimenticabili tournée in Serbia, altre due in Argentina e Uruguay e una in Australia.
Vincitori nel 1998 del Premi Friûl, festival friulano per le nuove tendenze musicali, con il progetto blues-maudit “Croz Sclizzâz” assieme al poeta Fabian Riz, nel 2004 il loro album autoprodotto “Jubilaeum” vince la “Targa Deganutti” come miglior disco friulano dell’anno, nel 2006 sono tra gli 11 finalisti del “Liet International” la kermesse europea più importante di gruppi rappresentanti delle lingue minoritarie, sempre nel 2006 con il video “Puar Beppin” vincono la “Mostre dal Cine Furlan” e “Anteprima Zone di Cinema” all’interno del “Trieste Film Festival”.
Hanno al loro attivo diverse programmazioni alle trasmissioni radiofoniche “Caterpillar” e “Fuori giri” di RADIO2, alcune apparizioni televisive RAI 2 “Follie rotolanti” e “Nu Roads” RAI 3 “La storia siamo noi” nonché svariati passaggi televisivi e radiofonici su radio ed emittenti locali.

The band grew up in 1994: the first intention was to make popular music revive expecially
in the live performances through dancing and raw lirycs: the musicians were all convinced that traditional music
was becaming too much intellectual and was loosing the contact with people. They began playing all around
(over 500 concerts in 12 years) beginning from pubs and small villages feasts and concluding with big festivals
in Italy, Europe and South America (Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Sweden, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Spain) as
Folkest, Onde Mediterranee, Etnica, Ariano Folk Festival, Mediterran Festival, Liet Lavlut and reaching a great
popularity in their region and a close contact with the people. Almost all the songs are written by the band, the
lirycs are both in Friulan, Italian and Slovenian (the three languages spoken in the region). The music is a mix
of traditional (violin, mandolin, accordion, flutes, horns) and modern (electric guitar, drums) and is very
suitable both for dancing than for listening: the influences come out from every corner of the world but the most
characterizing aspect of the band is the mixing of a punk attitude with popular roots and lyrics.
In 2003 the band traveled first in Argentina (playing for the large Friulan communites of Buenos Aires,
Cordoba and San Juan), then in Serbia (taking part at the Refract Festival in Belgrade, Pancevo and
Kraguievac).
In 2004 Arbegarbe won the “Targa Deganutti” for the best album in the Friuli Region with Iubilaeum and in
November the band travelled in Bosbia Herzegovina, Slovenia and Austria.
In 2005 they took part at the 1st Festival of Friulian Music in South America: 12 concerts in the main Friulian
communities of Argentina and Uruguay.
In 2006 they won the 1st prize of the Friulian Film Festival with the videoclip of the song “Puar Beppin” and
travelled in Spain (Bilbao and Vigo) and in Sweden taking part to the Liet Lavlut, the main european festival for
songs written in minority languages.
In 2007 they opened the summer cultural season of the city of Udine with a live show in Piazza Duomo
acclaimed by 3000 enthusiast people.
From 2004, with other regional bands, they are supporting a cultural development proyect called “Snait!” for
the children of the slum of Ferrari (Buenos Aires).
