   About Astreal
Astreal was formed in Singapore in 1992 with influences ranging from shoegaze/noise bands, ambient soundscapes to electronica and rock.

Discography:

Released two self-recorded demos, Dive Gemma (1993) and Chlorine Explosion (1994)

Released a full-length album Ouijablush under the Pony Canyon label

Appeared in compilations BigO Singles Club CD no.13 in 1996, No Excuse Compilation by Pony Canyon in 1997.

Released second full-length album Fragments of the Same Dead Star under Wallwork Records and distributed by EMI. The album is a collection of 11 songs which can be described as a spacey hybrid of indie/electronica.

Performances:

Astreal has played at some of these venues. In no particular order: the World Trade Centre, the Substation, Baybeats, Zouk Club, Home Club, the Hard Rock Café Singapore, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, the Singapore Youth Park, Zoukout 2006, Lime Sonic Bang 2006 and outside of Singapore in Peer Share (Bangkok), Bar Code (Bangkok), 3some (Bangkok), Paul’s Place (Kuala Lumpur) and LaundryBar (Kuala Lumpur) to welcoming audiences.

Some noteworthy appearances include Baybeats 2003, 2004 and 2006 at the Esplanade, of which saw the attendance of over 80,000 people in ‘06.

The band also opened for Australian indie rock band Screamfeeder and their own debut album Ouijablush was launched at Tower Records.

A track from Ouijablush was also played on a local television series, “Spin’.

The song ‘Stay Awake’ was aired on the legendary UK-based John Peel BBC radio show in 1996

Closer to home music columnist for the Straits Times and radio DJ Paul Zach described the debut album as “something that would ignite a bidding war between record labels”. ‘Stay Awake’ was also aired on the local station FM 98.7 the same year, receiving frequent rotation on the playlist.

In 2005, Astreal has also played in clubs in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as well as Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2006, several reviews have named Fragments of the Same Dead Star the best local release and it received airplay on Lush 99.5FM and 987FM. Astreal was also nominated in the Music category of the Annual Street Style Awards in 2004 and 2006.

HEY EVERYONE, Team Salad Days and *scape are bringing to you a gig (part of the Confessions series) on the 11th of July, Friday!!!

Release The Fymps!

Popular rapper wants more than just being a name within the Hiphop scene. Freaky Z releases his first full length album weirdly titled 'Fymps' and asks his listeners to make up whatever they want with the letters F,Y,M,P,S. One idea is "Funny Young Musician Promoting Singapore" while others can simply get vulgar! Fazli Nasser, his real name, can't help it, coming from a family background that's far from typical.

Funny man, Freaky Z, channels his frustration of being expelled from school, jumping from job to job, even being diagnosed with cancer to humourous jingles; a whopping 21 tracks in his album released on the 23rd December 2007 at the PlayDen, Arts House.

The album release party will feature his friends such as Peepshow, Xstatix, Rauzan, Public Eyez, Psykes, Sleeq and more, in skits unseen before at other Hiphop events, and of course, his tumour-to-humour antics, energetic nonsensical stand-up comedy-like stance.

Date: 23rd December 2007, Sunday

Time: 3pm sharp

Venue: Playden, The Arts House

Admission: $10 inclusive of 1 copy of FreakyZ's 'Fymps'

Hope to see you there! Holla atcha boy!!! Peace! :)

*scape and 65&Hope presents Floetry, a hiphop show where flow meets poetry. The show where rappers spit their heart out, so you know what they're talking about. Where the beats are a little down tempo, maybe just drums and raw samples. Sometimes you feel them, sometimes you dont, but the songs have stories of their own.

Come down and catch Xstatix, Bless, The Noize Foundation and Rebel Yell as they kick start this 4 part series, happening from November 07 to February 08, every last Saturday of the month. So mark your calendars, and show some love for your very own local hiphop talents. Hosted by your friendly neighbourhood rapper, FreakyZ.

Date: 24th November 2007, Saturday

Time: 6.30pm - 9pm

Venue: *scape Youth Center (building behind Youth Park), Somerset

Admission: $4 (early bird gets a mixtape)

The show is brought to you by *scape and 65&Hope, and supported by Beats Society and Resurgence.

Hi

It's been over a year and 8 months but...
We're playing a show!

Where: Rooftop of YMCA Orchard (1 Orchard Road); above 9th floor beside the swimming pool.

Date: 12 Oct 2007 (Fri)

Time: 7:30pm (Leeson), 9:30pm (Jamie Michael solo set)

Entrance fee: $12 (adult) /$10 (student upon showing valid student pass)
(all tics sold at the door and includes 2 food/drinks coupons for the Blue Moo ~ Cafe located at the venue)

It's gona be a cosy, semi-acoustic, intimate affair in a beautiful setting featuring a Leeson set comprised of almost entirely new material. Our new songs are, in a word: CATCHY. It's a new sound that we like and have been honing, so come down to the YMCA Rooftop to be the first to hear and see it live!

Thanks and Regards,
Gerald, Thomas, Jamie, Brian
