Atom Seed are a band that never got the credit they deserved and unfortunately split in April 1993.
Atom Seed are a mix of rock, funk and punk with talented musicians behind it all. Atom Seed started back in 1989
with Paul Cunningham as vocalist as well as
Simon James on
Guitar,
Amir on Drums, Chris Huxter on bass, who left to form the band New England and
was replaced by
Chris Dale
in time to support Dawn After Dark.
Amir was to be replaced by Jerry Hawkins during Atom Seed's European tour.
The London based four piece became an instant hit round the local pub scene before being signed to FM/Revolver
Record where they recorded their debut album 'Get In Line',
produced by Mark Flannery, the very next year. Get In Line hosted ten songs such as 'What You Say', 'Rebel' and my
personal
favourite 'Castles In The Sky'. It was an amazing record and still is to this day.
In 1990 Atom Seed joined the Wolfsbane tour when the band Princess Pang pulled
out and then released a 12" single entitled 'I Don't Want To Talk About It' via
Wolverhampton's FM revolver label, produced by Jan Cyrka
Atom Seed then went out to tour with bands such as Scat Opera, Red Hot Chilli
Peppers, Electric Boys and appear at festivals such as Cumbria Rock Festival,
which hosted Wolfsbane, amongst others and Marillion as the headliner.
In 1991 Get In Line was released in America via London Records but the album failed to make it's mark.
They toured Europe with the band Mordred and also recorded Rebel EP, Get In Line EP and Dead Happy EP before the
band's relationship with the record company became less than pleasant when they rejected the band's subsequent
demos.
In April 1993 the band were released from their current contract and the band
split even though that they had an unreleased album entitled 'Hard Sell
Paranoia', produced by Simon Effemy.
Atom Seed may no longer be a band but they are far from forgotten as many fans still remark on what a band they
were, how ahead of their time they were and in today's music would be a breath of fresh air.
They were an energetic band and most importantly down to earth.
If you haven't
heard of Atom Seed then I strongly recommend that you go out and buy 'Get
In Line'.
