The ATTICA project started in September 2002 in Brussels, Belgium. Its about music that is both spontaneous and solid, free spirited whilst still being conscious of its acts.
ATTICAs main objective is to promote an anti-conformist type of music. Indeed, today, categories such as rock , jazz , folk are crossovers of different cultures and trends. ATTICAs music therefore tries to merge all of these categories by balancing its eclectic musical influences with the strong identities of its members.
This rock project uses the spirit of jazz by operating a permanent interaction between the musicians. The songs are also built so as to be passageways to a collective improvisation. This avoids boring abstract experimental performances and can lead to a tidal wave of unfiltered emotions.
The name of the band, inspired from Archie Shepps famous album Attica Blues and from the N.Y penitentiary, was chosen for all of these reasons and personifies the will to go beyond conventions whilst still remaining within the worlds physical limits, the latter being pushed a step further every time the project and its members evolve.
ATTICA s intention is thus to offer the audience an intuitive experience that evolves between the romantic and the soft, the angry and the heavy, the weird and the wonderful. It pulls people into evocative or troubling soundscapes with melodies that remind you that Attica is a rock band, to dance to, to sing along with, to relate to.

RIBO/CHORUS N°63 "Y'a pas que les amateurs de rock qui pourraient être séduits par cet album, les cinéphiles aussi. C'est la B.O d'un film qui n'existe pas. Qu'importe. On y retrouve toutes les ambiances d'un polar glauque étatsunien, mené tambour battant et flingue à l'avenant. Ces "13 pieces for a road-movie", cette "fugue en mode mineure par chemin de traverse" nous narre la cavale de deux protagonistes, Marius et Sally-Jean Malher, de la vieille Europe à N.Y.C. La voix du narrateur-chanteur, Laurent Pilniak, est rugueuse à souhait, comme chargée d'alcool et ravagée par le tabac, inquiétante. Le scénar est dopé de tous les clichés possibles, de références au cinoche sublimées: ça nous fait un opus qui oscille entre l'ambiance glaciale et surréaliste d'un impeccable film noir et l'humour du même ton que Ribo sait distiller. C'est le troisième opus de ce groupe picard. Attention celui-ci est fatal!"
Camille Warmé - alias Helluvah - débarque avec sa guitare pour proposer un concentré d'émotions fortes. L'album s'appelle justement Emotion Pills et emboîte le pas d'une Catpower et d'une PJ Harvey juvéniles mais aussi de Nirvana ou Placebo. Le tout en solitaire mais avec une vraie tension électrique.

Parti enregistré chez Ryan Hadlock - producteur pour The Gossip, Foo Fighters, Blonde Redhead..., Hopper revient avec Deergirl sous le bras, un second album fiévreux et passionné. Avec leur nouvel ami américain, les 4 Parisiens passent à la vitesse supérieure et entrent dans la cour internationale du rock.
