Salve,

No more commissions accepted. Currently working for Astral Luminous, Black Plague Records and Lord Mantis.

Valitus,
E.S.C.

+ + + + + + + + + +   B I O G R A P H Y  + + + + + + + + + +

I am a devoted occult/esoteric artist active in the underground Black Metal scene. I am known by "Médan Savamhel" and "E.S.C." (Evangelista Septem Coronatorum) under the crown of "Ba'al Graphics". I am founder of the label "Bibliotheca Apostolica Septem Coronatorum" (whom's monarch has not yet been unleashed, apart from a small distribution) and creator of Dark Ambient under the monarch of "EVA.SEP.COR".

My existence in materialistic form has lasted merely 19 years so far, but do consider this fact irrelevant. Consider my age analogous to my intellectual value.

My driving force is the mental maelstrom connected with (but not limited to) the following terms: angelology, astronomy, Baroque, black magick, dark literature, demonology, Egyptian mythology, eschatology, esotericism, evolution, erotica, Greek mythology, Manierism, Medæval, Mesopotamian mythology, mysticism, occultism, Renaissance, romance, sacrosanctity, sadism, symbolism, theology, vampyrism and the Holy Bible in particular (I do not preach it; I am merely attracted to the story and its symbolism).

I could write whole books about myself, but I doubt it will be of any interest to you. So instead, I offer you three maxims that should vaguely give you an idea of the character I personate through life. It is up to you how you interpret them.

Silentium est aureum
Silence is golden

Nemo pervenit qui non legitime certaverit
Only he who has fought according to the rules will succeed

Ipsa Scientia Potestas Est
Knowledge itself is power

I see. I have a really hard time creating clean looking two dimensional art in photoshop. Anyways, it looks great. Are you using photoshop as a layout program still? Your new cd layout design was really nice.

It is... through the theology department. Not all universities offer it but there is a few who do. My ex has her diploma having studied it. However they don't allow Paradise Lost into the curriculum since they don't deem it credible enough.

The christians I know that do know of who and what I am (not in its entirety) accept me, but this is actually the problem. They still assume I need saving, and they accept me because they feel god will come into my life at a later stage. How feeble.
I would study for its references, but I know there will be animosity with other students for obvious reasons.

Sadly its impossible for me to study right now. I work, and in my spare time I work with digital art. I practice and teach myself, and strive for new levels of professionalism. When my time comes to study I will hopefully have the edge and be top of my class. I already teach some second years

I rather detest typography for band logos. I guess it all depends on each individuals bands image, but the way I see it bands should have logos designed, made specifically for them. It a piece of art to stand begind proudly. Where actual effort was made, rather then typing on a keyboard. Where any other person in the world can recreate. A logo is more unique.

Some of his lettering is pure genius. But despite his range of styles, having done over 500 logos its near impossible for him to be as original and unique as in his hay-day. Now it's just repetition, and combining styles in an attempt to squeeze out something new, and at times successfully. But its very hard to compete, since he is far more affordable, capable and, as you said, has that legendary status to stand behind

Wise move on your part, its nice beginning the work when it feels right for you, when you can put your enthusiasm into the work. It really is a wonderful design; as you know, one of my favourites.

I have some work I have yet to upload, but I'm waiting to hear from the bands before I do so. Though I wish it would hurry since I'm quite eager to yet my newer work up.

I've been looking at PayPal, and I did sign up. Knowing you use it is more of a reassurance. I reckon bands are the assholes artists are forced to deal with. I rarely encounter a band I'd love to keep working for. Erebus are assholes, their lead singer took credit for my ambigram, Selfmoord silently denied the logo since they don't want to pay for it. This dampens an artists passion for his work

At least you're studying, its the best thing to do since artistic work is impossible without it. I'm deciding if I want to study at a design school, but this is twice the price of regular studies, or study editing... this will be a great financial opportunity then I may study and do as I please. However, I dislike editing.

I would like to study theology/demonology (through a school), as well as english literature

Sep 27 2008 2:47 PM

Denied!? Did they give you a reason? That's quite a tragedy man... at least you have it as a reference the work you're capable of.

Wow... sounds like there's alot of politics involving extreme metal artwork.
There is pure truth to your words, every good band has his finger prints on it.
I would like one question answered though... that is, how on earth can he upload between 8 and 27 new logos a week? Ther's no way... that's more than 3 logos a day
Paradisus Callim Santitus

Sep 27 2008 2:34 PM

They haven't paid? I can image registered mail makes things difficult regarding payments? Iv never done it, but I'd like to figure a way of doing work for international bands and have an easy payment method. I hate south african metal bands... they are cheap-skate bastards

I can just imagine the level of eye candy their layout will have
Paradisus Callim Santitus

Sep 27 2008 2:31 PM

So you live on your own? What are you studying? I will only be studying next year, rather sad but my studies are very expensive and I have no help in paying for it.

I just got internet now, but I'm having problems as well... basically I have between 3 - 5mins of connectivity at a time, then I have to repair the connection. I was under the impression this was fixed but it just started again a few minutes ago

That's such a pity, it one of your top 3 logos for me. I saw one of your logos last week actually in a music store here. It was the Tsjuder one, though I think under your clients you listed them as rip offs? Either way, know that your work has reached the shores of south africa ;)

A strange soundtrack I've been listening to lately is The Age of Empires I and II, yup the games from a few years ago. There is alot of tranquil and very beautiful music on it

Sep 27 2008 2:03 PM

You dont have the internet? How do you upload and comment etcetera? I thought everyone in Europe and America had high internet, since its so cheap there. Its only this cunt south africa thats just gone to high speed at a some-what affordable price

There is a way you can have the same glow in that right corner, visable even over the light area.
Duplicate the logo layer (with all the blending options still editable). move the duplicated layer below the original then change the blending options of the glow to normal (it should be on overlay or something similar), the orange will now show... now create a new layer and merge the duplicate with it, it now becomes and image with a glow uneditable. then just erase this layer (the glow wont follow where you erase) except in the corner you want to fill the missing glow. then just change opacity to suit the rest

this sounds longer than it actually is

What I love most about the Numen Malevolum Barathri logo, and what I found most fascinating (even more so than the effort and time in the lettering), is that the left and right illustrations are 2 seperate images. Not one copied and flipped horizontally. Very few would notice this, since they look identical, but that is quite remarkable. An extreme attention to detail
