Backbiterhas been around forever and a day (they even covered the 60’s Wig song of the same name on their first album). The band consists of Jonathan Hall (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Heath Seifert (Bass, piano), and Bob Lee (Drums). Heath and Jonathan were in The Angry Samoans until just recently. Bob was in the popular LA band Claw Hammer and did several tours and the song Piss Bottle Man with, former Minutemen, Mike Watt. Backbiter released a CD, Get Together, on Blue Man from Uranus, a split CD with Elope on Man’s Ruin Records and a double CD was just released on Blue Mask/Blue Man from Uranus Records. They won the LA Weekly Music Award as Best Hard Rock/Metal Band (beating out Queens of the Stone Age, Orgy, and Fear Factory). The award was presented by Mike Watt and Ronnie James Dio. Backbiter were honorary Pink Fairies for a few shows, backing Twink (drummer on the Pretty Things classic album ‘S.F. Sorrow’). They did a song, Encyclopedia Satanica, with Kid Rock for the Spike TV animated show Stripperella. They recently recorded a song with Little Richard for a promo for Spike TV. Unfortunately, it wasn’t used but it was a milestone playing with the greatest rock and roll singer of all time. Backbiter’s new CD TIME AGAIN/MAGNET HEART SUITE is out right now. It was featured in Chuck Eddy’s Eddytor’s Dozen column in The Village Voice. The CD release release show was a pick of the week in The LA Weekly. It’s an incredibly focused record. The theme of the songs on the first CD, TIME AGAIN, all deal with different aspects of time. Melodies and themes are repeated at different points on the CD. The second CD, MAGNET HEART SUITE, was recorded together as a piece of music. Neither is a concept record or a Rock Opera. Just focused rock and roll. We tried to make it sound as close to our live show as possible.
Backbiter love rock and roll and have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Well, I got a ride with Bobby Ho the other night, and he said something about Landfill and Carnage Asada playing at the CREST in Torrance some time soon. I propose you try to ride their coattails onto that bill, cuz Torrance and the entire "South Bay" area is STARVED for something like that, although I don't know what the management's policy is- it's probably fucked and that's why this area sucks, cuz all the venues are run by scum bags who don't care about music and have big coke habits...big disco-pimp-promoter-types with mirrored glasses and thin moustaches....Slime balls...But hey, maybe not!
What happened to that Mr.T's gig December 20 at MR. T's? ...I had it inked in on my calendar as a Christmas present to myself, and now it looks like it's off yours...What Gives?!? I need a FIX....Please Kick down SOON.
