O nome rutera vem da palavra inglês roots, cujo significado é raízes, estilo de reggae que a banda toca com sua original essência nas letras e sempre inovando na parte instrumental, levando palavras de sabedoria às pessoas através de uma música suave e dançante.
A banda surgiu da união de seis músicos See a Rasta (vocal e baixo), Isma Dubens (guitarra e dub), Gabriel Abreu (guitarra solo), MartinaRutera (vocal), Leo Snarf (bateria) e Oiram Seraos, (teclado), distante do embalo do mar, no meio das montanhas, no coração da Serra Gaúcha, mas entoando o mais autêntico Reggae Roots – temperado por influências como funk, blues, soul, jazz, samba e black music em geral.
Em julho de 2009 gravou seu primeiro álbum, totalmente independente, intitulado Fogo do Criador. O disco contém 10 faixas, sendo que uma delas é uma versão da música Slavery Days, da lenda viva do reggae Burning Spear, autorizada pelo próprio.
Entre os meses de julho e agosto a Rutera seguiu numa turnê de seis shows pelas Ilhas de Cabo Verde na África, onde tocou nas melhores casas noturnas como Cock Pit (Praia-Ilha de Santiago), Birimbau (Santa Maria Beach-Ilha do Sal), MindelHotel (Mindelo-Ilha de São Vicente). O show Fogo do Criador com sua mensagem de fé, chegou a reunir mais de 10 mil pessoas em Cabo Verde para assistir a banda brasileira, aclamada pela imprensa local como a grande atração internacional no Festival de Curraletes (Porto Novo-Santo Antão). As 10 faixas do cd encantaram o povo além mar e a música Compreender virou hit por onde a banda passou, confirmando que o reggae é universal.

The name Rutera comes from the word roots, the reggae style played for the band, with your original meaning in the lyrics inna new style, bringing words of wisdom to the people trought a dancing and soft music.
The band started from the reunion of some musicians that already played reggae and decided to join and start a new job.
Now make shows in the south of Brazil and is near to finish your first cd "Fogo do Criador". This one has 10 songs including a version in portuguese of a song of the alive legend of reggae music Burning Spear, called Slavery Days. The band are participating of another cd too, with several artists of reggae called "Reggae 4 Life", where all songs that will be in the cd will be mixed by Mad Professor that will make dub versions of the songs.
In july the band will have some shows out of Brazil for the first time, in the Cabo Verde Islands, in Africa.
