RECENT PRESS REPORTS
The Sun Herald 20/1/08
“I listened to the bands music for the first time on their MySpace site. I’ve been listening to their songs ever since and, like many fans, can’t wait for the release of their full-length album in April”
Beat Magazine 23/1/08
“Single of the Week. White Skin is a haunting piece, spurred delicately from a whisper to a wail. The structure of the song … is completely unexpected. You think you know what it is and where this Melbourne indie band is going; but the tempo changes; the style changes; the mood changes. Small inflections in the arrangement are transporting – from the judicious use of a vocal effect to the rich, placid gold of the cascading sixties pop harmonies – and you find yourself lifted up then settled gently again, as though you’d travelled somewhere beautiful in a dream.”
The Daily Telegraph 24/1/08
“a lovely, lovely song. This indie-folk pop outfit from Melbourne deliver a gorgeous slow-building, harmony-laden introduction”
Access All Area website 25/1/08
“White Skin is the perfect introduction to a record that offers up a smorgasbord of brooding, touching and witty songs”
The Dwarf.com.au website 2/2/08
“Embracing the musical formula that has led Gomez and Augie March to such fame, Basic Shape is a folk rock quintet with personality. Four of the five members are vocalists, unifying the bands sound. The sound inviting, you too feel as though you are an extension of the band.”
Rave Magazine 2/2/08
“the lovelorn White Skin is an intriguing and worthwhile intro to this new band.”
