   About Beats For Beginners

"Good, like Lou Reed with synths".....MICK JONES (THE CLASH)

"The album is always on my ipod".....BADLY DRAWN BOY

"Beats are retro and strangley comforting like Smash" ...NME 7/10

Take a bedroom Bowie fan add T rex, Primal Scream, 80's synths and top it with some psychedelia and you get close to the sound of Beats for beginners.....(BBC Online)

" Kind of mixing the 60's with the 80's - including best bits of the 70's......(fan blog)

----------------------------------

Beats For Beginners have been gradually gathering momentum since releasing Don't Fly Into The Sun, riding the success of "Kill All DJs" to spread their sound from the confines of Manchester, England to the rest of the world. Their latest track, "Freaky Girl", builds upon the winning formula of 80s synth, delicate vocals, strong beats, and rough edges that are teeming with hints of psychedelia. Check out the track below and see how many influences you can hear, it's what I like to call a Bowie-Barrett sandwich on rye. Manages to gain the respect and air time of not only local Manchester airwaves plus BBC radio 2/BBC 6 music even without currently been signed and bridge his sound of LCD Soundsystem and The Cure, mixing ’80s & ’60s songwriting sensibility....(Floating in Space blog 12/04/08)

Born in Whitby by the sea, shoplifted cassettes from Woolies as a child, moved to Manchester when i was 17. 2nd album currently been made, can often be found swanning around Manchester like a French duke eating too much Chinese food.

I have mostly begged, borrowed and stolen recording time in mates studio's, and my own home computer to make this new album HOW I LEARNED TO LOVE MACHINES which will be out on itunes early 2010. James Doviak (Johnny Marr/Cribbs) helped me record & Produce most of it, big thanks James.

All beats for beginners stuff that is out is on itunes (just type beats for beginners in itunes search bar) anything elese is about to be released, have a browse on itunes the first 30 seconds are free, and if it floats your boat buy a track. My first record is called Don't Fly IntoThe Sun (2004 Faith & Hope Records) but my most popular stuff is an EP called Laser Beams For Eyes... Playing live with me I have the fantastic Crosby on bass guitar & Jay on drums, I'm your worst nightmare "A Bowie fan with sampler" . Ta mike x

The three new neutral density T shirts are here!

They are all available here at the neutral density online skate shop.

The shirts are all hand screen-printed using water-based inks so they have a lovely soft feel and they don't hurt the Earth quite as much as solvent-based inks.

also available as a hoody

Picadilly Records

Grouper (US) has her latest – Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill – of three albums on Type Records. She has also been involved in collaborative releases, contributing a track to Xiu Xiu’s Remixed & Covered and four tracks to a split release with Inca Ore. Her other contemporaries are Belong, Growing, Tim Hecker, Windy & Carl and Atlas Sound.

Jasper TX (Sweden), with a hefty back-catalogue of releases on labels such as Miasmah, and collaborations with buddy Machinefabriek, is an essential domestic appliance in the household of conceptual music. He is comparable to artists Fennesz, Sigur Ros, Múm and Tape.

Intricate and atmospheric songsmith, Danny Saul (UK) performs with different combinations of musicians, making each gig a unique event. His forthcoming release is "Harsh, Final", and he also performs with Greg Haines as Liondialer.

Fieldhead (UK) music delights in tape hiss, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. He is also a member of The Declining Winter and Glissando. His debut album, "They Shook Hands for Hours" is released soon on Home Assembly.

Hello Beats for Beginners.

I hope you had a great month of August.

I have uploaded "Space Sands" and "Last Call" on my player.

Two ambiant tracks with jazzy accents, cinematic mood, where electronic sounds meet intimate organic textures.

You can also discover other of my productions, if you haven't yet. Many moods for many ears.

Have a good day.
