Bebel Gilberto is back with Momento her third solo album, presenting some of her most elegant and personal musical statements since bursting on the scene in 2000 when her Grammy nominated debut album Tanto Tempo took the world by storm and conquered audiences worldwide.
Momento is about a moment in time and living in the moment an apt title for these times of fast but shallow information. The album draws on the graceful, low-key Electronica of Tanto Tempo and the enchanting, acoustic simplicity of her second self-titled album. Gilberto’s voice is presented in a variety of settings that showcase her magical delivery and subtle, powerful emotions. On Momento Gilberto also comes into her own as a songwriter, writing or co-writing the majority of the songs, and delivers three impressive covers “Caçada” (written by her uncle and famed songwriter Chico Buarque); “Tranquilo” (written by young Rio producer Kassin) and a heart-stopping Bossa-Jazz version of Cole Porter’s classic “Night And Day".
Besides the three covers, Gilberto co-wrote and co-produced all the tracks on Momento working with producers such as Guy Sigsworth, The Brazilian Girls, Rio's Orquestra Imperial and members of her own band in New York. “In the studio today you can play, edit, double tracks or delete them. It was a big challenge, but big fun too.”
Bebel Gilberto’s soulful restrained blend of Brazilian and international music took the world by surprise with the release of Tanto Tempo in 2000. Although Gilberto has an impressive genealogy she never had any intention of following in her parent’s footsteps. She developed her own unique style moving to New York City and working with artists as varied as David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, Towa Tei (Deee Lite) and Thievery Corporation. By the time she recorded Tanto Tempo, she had already forged her own musical identity, combining Brazilian Pop, European sophistication, and cutting edge Electronica with a unique silky vocal style that entranced audiences worlwide. Tanto Tempo became the third biggest selling Brazilian album in US chart history.

Em 2007 Bebel Gilberto retorna com o seu terceiro album solo ‘Momento’, apresentando canções extrememante elegantes e pessoais, dando continuidade ao trabalho iniciado no ano 2000 com lançamento do album ‘Tanto Tempo’, que recebeu duas indicações ao prêmio Grammy e conquistou audiências no mundo todo.
‘Momento’ é dedicado a todos os momentos da vida, mas sempre vivendo no presente. Pensamento extremamante atual em tempos de informação rápida e abundante mas muitas vêzes superficial. No novo disco encontramos os climas eletrônicos de ‘Tanto Tempo’ combinados com a simplicidade acústica do segundo projeto ‘Bebel Gilberto’. Bebel apresenta sua vóz em diversas ambientações que realçam a emoção, a graça e a magia da sua arte. Em ‘Momento’, Bebel nos apresenta ao seu mundo interior compondo maior parte das canções do projeto – e também nos apresenta três regravações escolhidas a dedo: ‘Caçada’ (Chico Buarque), ‘Night & Day’ (Cole Porter) e o clássico moderno ‘Tranquilo’ (Kassin) em companhia da Orquestra Imperial.
Além das regravações, Bebel compôs e co-produziu todas as faixas em ‘Momento’ trabalhando com produtores como Guy Sigsworth, The Brazilian Girls, a Orquestra Imperial e os membros de sua banda. “Hoje no estúdio, podemos tocar, editar, dobrar instrumentos e apagar tudo. É um desafio grande, mas é muito divertido também” diz Bebel.

‘Momento’ é a continuação do movimento ascendente de Bebel. ‘Momento’ é enraigado na rica tradição musical e familiar de Bebel, mas também a lança ainda mais próxima de sua visão de música global. Em ‘Momento’, o samba, o forró, o pop, a bossa, o jazz e a eletrônica convivem em perfeita harmonia com a confiança da cantora e compositora e a elevam ao primeiro time de artístas internacionais. Ainda não inventaram nenhuma categoria para definir esta música, somemente ‘Música de Bebel’. Bem-vindos a este ‘Momento’.

O canto de Bebel Giloberto está situado entre a intenção da emoção e a certeza da precisão. Ouví-la é saber que a nota vai chegar ao seu lugar passeando pelas ondas mansas e ao mesmo tempo intensas de interpretações doces, mas não por isso, frágeis.
Bebel é o canto brasileiro da escola de uma escola da feminilidade marcante que vem desde Dalva de Oliveira até Adriana Calcanhotto.
Me apixonei definitivamente por Bebel ao degustar "A mais bonita", em que canta com Chico Buarque a canção que dá sentido hoje ao roteiro de meu mais recente show.
Bebel: continue trazendo ares de rebovação para o doce canto marítimo e ondular do Brasil!
